sandblasting the whole car

never tell the painter that he has time to do your car...
painting was finished in May 2005

it was obvious for me that the car should be pinstriped, so i made a fixed date with the pinstriper not knowing
the painter will need so much time  :(  so i had only a few days to complete the chassis
My garage at that time was a short container at a friends courtyard

looks like a nice job dude......my own project has taken about the same time to reach a similar state....keep on it!

i like the colour too, my first cal-look car back in '86 was just about the same.

what are your plans for  the engine?

Hi Jick,
in the moment a 1584ccm with 041 heads and a dual Carburetor Kit with Weber 40 IDF is installed.
The engine has a 41mm merged header and some more little modifications like a blue bosch ignition coil
and a NSU distributor.For the next season a 2332ccm with 044 cb oval port heads a FK87 cam and 48 IDA's
is planed.
Best regards Kreutzi

I was so glad i managed it in time to complete the chassis,
so the pinstriper could bring the lines on.
Thanks to Steve for this wonderful pinstriping.
If you want to see more of his work visit his homepage www.pinstriper.de

what color is the car on certain photos, she seems yellow, on the other beryl green, and the last pearl white  ::) ::)

The color is an original volkswagen color called "Yukon Yellow"
It is a factory color of the early 60s.Beryl green or rubin red were also available at that time.
It depends on the light if it looks more white or yellow.

After the pinstriper finished his work it was time for a new "luxury" garage to work on the car.  :D
First thing to do was change the front and rear axles and mount a new brake system.

In December 2006 i moved my car to it´s new "home" at a friends garage.
There i started to finish the car to bring it in time to the May Cruise Madness.
Many thanks OttoR for your support and help !

One of the first things i put on the car was this Cagero oil cooler.
Not cheap, but worth every single buck.Very easy to install.

The last missing things to do before the 1st of May were the seats , the sky , the carpet and the rag top.
Walter who works for Karmann in Osnabrück did a real good job.The car was ready on the 30th of April.
The first test drive of the car was in the morning right before we drove to the show.
I drove to the gas station, filled the tank controlled the tire pressure and then we started
the 200 km to Hannover to the May Cruise Madness and the Maikäfertreffen.
see links for show details : http://www.kaefertreffen.de/  and  http://www.dflvwclub.de/gallery.php?type=events&year=2007

In April 2008 i removed the "original" gearbox to mount a new one.
The new is a Rancho Pro Comp with 1st gear 3,80 ; 2nd gear 2,06 , 3rd gear 1,59 and 4th gear 1,13
The ring & pinion is a 3.88 ratio.A ZF limited slip Differential is also mounted.
I mounted the new gearbox with a Gene Berg Transmission Mount and a solid gearbox Mount.
New shock absorbers were also mounted.
