Title: Powder coating 1/4 lights
Post by: JSL on December 05, 2008, 11:16:00 am
Hi,

Sorry if this is a tad boring  :-[

I have some 1/4 lights but the chrome is pitted. As part of the de-chromed theme I was thinking of powdercoating these black.

Has anyone removed the glass from the 1/4 light frames before? Is it easy?

I know you can buy replacement felt so people much do this all the time, but the small print says you need a 'special tool' to press that glass back in properly  ???

Does anyone know someone in the UK that can do this? Or is it actually quite an easy task?

Thanks for any help,

Cheers,

James

Might be easier to start with some standard model painted ones, or some Australian ones - they're stainless steel from what I've been told.

I don't know about Beetles, but Slinger and I did it to his single cab. He made a jig, and it was still a BITCH! Not one of my favorite jobs!
