The end of the last paragraph should read: “Two gas crises had all but killed the muscle car, and it somehow became more interesting to young guys to have a slow vehicle you could get laid in than to have a great sleeper like a hot VW.” Hope it hasn't spoiled your enjoyment of the book too much!
