Title: Help!!! Raised white letter tyres Post by: nigelg65 on December 12, 2008, 19:43:19 pm Help: I'm looking to buy radial raised white letter tyres for my Oval. I'm pretty sure I need 205/65x15s but am struggling to find any.
I'm using 7x15 American five spokes at the back, does anyone know how big a tyre I can get on an Oval using these wheels without major work? www.type-magazine.com Title: Re: Help!!! Raised white letter tyres Post by: ESH on December 12, 2008, 20:48:35 pm 205/70's would possibly be OK on 7s? There are 215/65 15s listed on the Northants Tyres (http://www.northhantstyres.com/RTS%20final/2156515.htm) but I don't think there are any 205/65 15s? Vredestein have a 205/60 listed on VintageTyres (http://www.vintagetyres.com/display.asp?K=20081209_3120_000134&sf_01=keyword&sort=sort_size&st_01=205+15&x=0&y=0&m=1&dc=13) site. Give either of those two places a ring though and they should be able to tell you what's what.

Title: Re: Help!!! Raised white letter tyres Post by: JS on December 13, 2008, 22:31:30 pm The only Mickeys you can fit under std. fenders are F70-15. Wich equals to about 215/70-15.
I have a set on 5,5" mws brmīs. Fits nicely, but Iīm not sure what will happen to the fender clearance if you fit them to a 7" wheel. It will depend on the offset, and even then... F70-15 is by the way the narrowest size i have seen in any tire brand with raised white letters. Title: Re: Help!!! Title: Re: Help!!! Raised white letter tyres Post by: Rocket-Racing on December 13, 2008, 23:32:07 pm Wasn't the question here RADIAL white letters? Those Mickeys, like Firestone Wide Ovals, Goodyear Polyglas and so on are bias ply tires. BFG Radial T/A's are the only decent radials I know of that are made in suitable sizes and with white letters.
On the other hand.. If we're talking about a cal-looker here, when radials became the norm in the early seventies white letters were considered yesterdays news.. They were a thing of the late sixties, specially on musclecar tires, and would suit an early looker. Title: Re: Help!!! Raised white letter tyres Post by: nigelg65 on December 14, 2008, 09:58:02 am Well I would prefer radials and the car isn't a Cal-looker.
