Title: Lost in the 80's but found
Post by: Tony M on December 16, 2008, 22:58:33 pm
This is and old 80's looker with all the bolt on goodies - but has a Scat midget motor under the sheetmetal - Honda prelude seats - Wink mirror with the louvered cover - All the bolt on crap on the engine - Plus the trans has a spool in it - A good friend owns this car - most of the parts came from the infamous Buggy House - Just kind of fun to look at again

who's midget motor?
A lot of fast cars that hung around BH had "midget" motors in them. Roger with the white '67 had the SPG-cranked midget motor in his car.
Dave Pelton had that midget motor with the Okrasa crank and Carillos, ended up in Jim Lose's red K Ghia, was a blindingly fast car, think it went 12.50's in street trim but with slicks. Then motor went in his purple sedan, which the guy @ Comet Auto Parts owned, not sure if he raced it, then Darrel @ BH ended up with it, and from there I don't know where it went.

Nice! One of my friends bought a "midget" engine for a song at a V8 swap meet a few years ago. It was a 78X94 with an okrasa VW journal crank and Autocraft heads that had been seriously flycut.

I've seen the " wink mirror" also in other 80ies cars but not in real life.  what's the story behind these, other shots from behind?

We should try to be sensitive around here,  Let's try to call them "little people" motors from now on.  thanks

A local Big time racer Chuck Gurney owned this car first, The motor came out of All Weld Machine's Midget when Chuck drove for them back in the 80's. I rebuilt it back then when working at BH. Detuned it a bit, but it has all the right stuff inside, Okrasa crank, carillo rods, auto craft piston, cylinders and heads. All the goodies Brian got from BH at that time. All the bolt on crap that we all bitched about is on this car. Its just fun to open the deck lid and see all that stuff. The wink mirror covers were a real gem  :D, but its kind of cool to still see this stuff still around.
