I am pretty sure you need them
Last year when I bought my Pauter head with Ti valves the lash caps was include and I dont think they follow if not needed

Hi Ritchie,

If you have the steel tip inserts in the valve-stems you don't need to run the lash caps.
I have a few motors out in this set-up on roller tips and no problems so far.

take care Steve

Yup you need to know what tips your valves have, or if in doubt and you can't find out... use the lash caps.

Another consideration about lash caps and Pauter roller rockers is valve geometry. It sounds odd maybe and has nothing to do with strength, but on a type 4, Pauter used lash caps in his kit just to make the proper valve geometry at all possible...
Don't know what the stock geometry is like on a type 1 head with Pauters though, but maybe it has nothing to do with material compatibiity there as well... ::)
Just a (different) thought  ;)
If you don't actually need them for material strength or material compatibility, they only make the valve side unnecessarily heavier imo... (as you don't run Ti valves for giggles right?)

Cheers,
Walter

I know it's over a decade ago, but FWIW I always ran lashcaps with Pauter rollers and DelWest ti valves.
