Title: Wiring, ick.
Post by: marcd on January 11, 2009, 02:44:07 am
The problem with getting a car that was someone elses project, is that it was someone elses project. There are plenty of electrical gremlins in this thing, and I am real close to tearing all the wiring out and starting from scratch.

This isn't even worth trying to fix; I need to just start over.

I just did the same thing on my youngest brothers '69 bug last weekend. I was bought as an unfinished project and we intstalled the engine and tried the lights and stuff almost nothing worked. I spent the better part of last sunday clening dirty terminals, chasing bad grounds and replacing bulbs. Now everything works except for the rear defroster (I broke the switch). All it takes is patience, a multimeter and a wiring diagram.

Well, I am planing on getting a Painless or Ron Francis fuse block, and just building the harness from scratch, and relocating it under the back seat. I'm also adding more grounds in anticipation of the EFI setup.
