Title: Is your car a show car?
Post by: alex d on December 13, 2006, 11:23:06 am
I mean, when you built your car, did you build it as a car to take only to shows and get trophies, a weekend driver or a daily driver? Or maybe your car started as a daily driver and ended up being a racer  ;D

mine was built to be a summer weekend only car......and thats certainly how its gonna turn out when its done, it's really not going to be too practical on the street with 200hp..... and a spool........and me behind the wheel.. ::)

jim, you're right about the stance... but still this is my opinion the most beautiful vert i everrr seen! though i like the vert of greenheart's max as well...

i saw the ad on thesamba (for a fair price) about a year ago, saved all the pics on my pc  ;D

i'd just get the stance sorted and bob's yer uncle!  ;)

Ok, sorry to take this topic into another realm, so I'll make this brief.
Again, to me, the number 1 thing about a hot-rod VW, has got to be the STANCE. You can put all the original Empi or DDS stuff you want on the car, real BRM's, slipper-skirt 88's, 48's, Berg, have Becker paint, have all the right stuff, moldings or no, any color you like, but get the stance wrong, and the whole message is lost. Those tucked under fender tires make the car look like a mockery to me.
Ok, don't get me started....

Jim,

That Stance problem on the Vert could be solved in couple of hours... ;)

Than it would look spot on again!!!

Frank

I Think The Front is a little to low to In the Picture when it was mine it had 14x5 1/2 alloys that made it sit low anyway, ground to headlight center was 17 inches  I hate the rear end dropped down on bugs reminds me of a dog taking a crap from the back

I'm not sure I'd want a full on show car  ???

Mine's fairly tidy, and I don't mind the odd stone chip thrashing the nuts off it... Best combo  ;D

trailer queens are a no go! do some sculpturing instead  :P

i think a showable driver is the ultimate to strive for! and quite a few of you lot on here fit that profile, what more do you want?
- apart from a 2nd or 3rd looker  ;) -

My 66 has being in daily use for the past 7 years, and I love it!!..Yes winter months are hard to the car, but during the summer months I try to repair whats ever in need for repair...,  its not a show car, but I have fun with it...
My last bug was going on the road summer and winter for 13 years..... ;)

Mine was built (not by me) to win shows and it did. The then owner had devoted so much time and effort to maiking it so good he was frightened to drive it! I bought it to drive it, and whilst I own it I won't be showing again. It's 'his' car when it comes to shows 8)
