Title: So Cal. winter blues
Post by: Dustin on January 19, 2009, 03:59:40 am
Spent most of Saturday going through my DCNF 42's to troubleshoot a rich #3 cylinder, resync the carbs and adjust the valves. Didn't find anything wrong but put it back together and it's running great again. Must have been some blockage somewhere. Thanks Shubee for the help.

You would never know it was mid-January from todays weather! The wife and I took a nearly 100 mile round trip down to the coast and the wife took some pics to capture the absolutely beautiful day we had cruising from Newport up to Bolsa Chica.

For those of you with a little cooler weather, hope this warms you up a little!

Oh, YES! I love the way that looks, Sarge.

Dustin, there was a thread on the Cal Look forum where Sarge debuted his new sidewinder by A-1.

Sarge, I just thought of something... you DO realize that I'll need to re-shoot another photo of your car with the sidewinder, yes?

 ;D

Your avatar just reminded me of that.

Isn't so-cal great in the midst of winter.  You can't shovel sun shine.
It was a great day for a run up the coast, I happened to go on a Nova cruise up to ventura on the same day.

that was another infamous So Cal beautiful winter day. I was in shorts and T shirt and was still burning up. Great times.... cars lined up in their back lot, beers cracked @ 10:30am, good friends and a cameo appearance from Jay Leno. Let's do it again.  8)

VERY cool, Jim! I dig your concept of not being able to shovel snow.

I'm always up for a drive. Name the time and place, Sarge. That was a really fun day.

Yep! The biers came out early, hangin' out with Dyno Don, you guys, some great food, and to top it off... a Jay Leno appearance. GOOD TIMES, for sure. Let's do it again, INDEED!

It is a slight variation of the original '69 Savanna beige. Those pics didn't really show the color well.

My friend, who owned the car when we did the original restoral, didn't like the green tint of the original color but you can hardly see the difference when looking at the original paint in the engine compartment.

Here is another pic but in person it is appears slightly darker.

Mine is a 68, chinchilla grey, but not sure. It has been repainted ,excepted the roof, and I don't know if it is the exact color. When I have it repainted, we scan the fuel trap to find the color.

Wow!! They look like clones... I'm jealous of the lowback seats though! :-[ What year are the bumpers? I like the rubber on them.

Dustin, those would be two really cool additions to your car... lowbacks and add the bumper rubber with either chrome or painted bumpers. I dig your car, already. But good to hear that you're considering that stuff.

Yeah, As I said before, When we originally did the restore, it was to stock specs. Had I known I was going to own the car two months after it was finished, I definitely would have done things differently. All future mods must comply with spouses home improvement plans  :(

I can relate on both counts... I did the same thing. I wanted a factory looking car so I made sure that was done, first. And I was married so I remember the comply protocol, as well.

Speaking of winter... wish this wet stuff would stop fallin' from the sky. I really wanted to take my '67 out, today. Oh well. Just went out and had some fun in my Bimmer. Four wheel drifts in corners are fun. Especially when my girlfriend's screaming. HAHA!! It's funny, 'cause my sons actually love it. They were raised taking corners fast in anything with wheels. My girlfriend... not-so-much.

 ;D

Seats are stocks and originals and bumpers are repops as the rubbers. I don't know if rubbers are the right year for the car, but I love the finished touch it gives.
