Kobus, just keep in mind that this buggy was still on a shortened floorpan when it made most of its appearances at the Bug-Ins, and it was much later in life, when Dutcher converted it to a mid-engine deal. I do not believe it was nearly as successful in this configuration, as it was when it still had the VW pan...

P.S. See you in July!

Hi Kobus,

Could not find anything in Hot VW's, but you should Check VW Greats Winter issue of 1972...

One of my favorite race cars of all time!

My shop was near Dutcher's, I used to see him around often.
...bought my very first VW part from him at least 35 years ago... a used rear brake drum.

I'm sure you could call Jim Dutcher and ask him any questions you might have :)

I do not believe it was nearly as successful in this configuration, as it was when it still had the VW pan...

I bet the car really needed all that rearward weight bias being so light...

Kobus, I can ask Jim for you... he's practically my neighbor and his shop is right around the corner from me.

I will have to look I may have pictures of the car from the Bug In days. Last time I went to Jim's shop a few years ago he showed me the car which was in storage in the back of his shop and the car was in storage since 1984 until a few years ago and the shop door was never open for the last 20 years according to Jim.

  Thanks !!!!!!

Yep, I saw it sitting in storage too... a real time machine, that car.

When I heard Bug-In 32 was going to happen, I encouraged him several times to get the car running and debut it there... never thinking he would sell it ;)
