Title: Type 3 Brakes
Post by: Chris W on January 21, 2009, 00:05:07 am
Can anyone tell me what late type 3 drums should measure after being cut down for use on a Type 1?

Thanks

Take .550" off the snout to work on a short spline ;)

Yep got that. I need to know if the stock un-machined hight is about 2.5 inches?

Once you trim the nose on your T-3 drums, before you leave the lathe area, test your axles and jamb nut in your machined drum to check the location of the cotter pin hole, and the nut. I had to trim another .080 to get the cotter pin hole right where it needed to be. Otherwise, the depth of the hole in relation to the axle nut may not be in exactly the right spot (too shallow).
