Hey Richie,
Brothers did most of the work on the motor. We're waiting on the header (too long) so we can get the oil lines done and then off to the dyno. We'll be finishing up the "rolling" pan this weekend, then start the cage and seatmount fitting. It's going slower than hoped for, but.......

hey guys the rear frame horn attachment bars go the other way and have to be removed for trans removing and installation they bolt to the rear trans mount you have to drill bolt holes in them at the mount.

Title: Re: 55 S/G
Post by: Gary Justus on April 17, 2009, 17:59:44 pm
Thanks, Jason..We actually just had it balanced there so we could start the seatmount and seat placement. Hopefully we'll get the last black powdercoat run back today and get the motor ready for the dyno early next week. We're behind our original schedule, but things are "rolling" along.

Yes, JGE....Removed the JGE logos on the caps and replaced them with American Racing logos. It's been hard to stay motivated AND move forward without a job.

Well, right now I'm waiting to hear back from Brothers. They have the car to do some welding on the cage and the backrest for the seat. I just finished the oil lines and a temporary mount for the JayCee oil spinner/manifold.

Jason

Title: Re: 55 S/G
Post by: Eric Justus on November 10, 2009, 19:12:33 pm
It will be painted and ready to run next season. Once we test fit the oil and fuel lines and do some more mounting, it is ready for paint. Paul Smoot is going to paint it (painted a number of the GFK cars) and once it is done there it is going straight down to WCC to have Lenny and crew install the windows and interior as well as do a full wiring job on the car with a new harness. We will put the rest of the car back together once they are done and have the chassis aligned before it hits any pavement. We are aiming to actually debut it Classic weekend, with the first time it being out at the DKP cruise that weekend. Then we will run it. I dont expect to blow any doors off in S/G the first year it is out I just want to make sure everything stays bolted together and we can get it running right.   :D

Hey Eric,
car looks stunning. Good colour choice!
Always a special moment when pan and body comes togehter.
I personally would prefer the torkers as they match the body colour better.
To me Erco`s are to "simple" but that`s just my taste...
Go on&on,

Thanks for the compliments! We have a number of rims to use, so, we'll play it by ear. Whatever works out as the best combo for racing will be what we use at the strip. So far, we've done everything on paper for the numbers needed, and so far we've gotten what we want. Now,,we have to put it together and see if it does what it's supposed to do.

Everything we have has been restored/redone. Parts are hard to come by and if they do pop up, sometimes in bad shape. So we only have what we needed to put the car together

Just a quick question about that Superb cooling setup - is it "street-able" like that?

No....The car is designed for racing. The electric fans are to help cool down the heads after a pass. The fans run off of the high-beam switch and the fuel pump works off of the windshield wiper switch.

Cool setup - and cool ideas with the switches  :)

Finally took the car out to Sacramento this weekend. Few hiccups here and there. Big Thanks to Jason Foster for the help on the brakes. The barretts always help us out at the track as well. 4 passes, consistent 114+ mph...final pass 11.50

I loved that Mike Smith style Burn out you did. I was back a bit and as the car started to squirell, I watched as it got sideways and more er, uh... sidewayser.. Nice car guys.. good seeing you two again.. And tell that crazy man to stop yelling out the truck window at strangers at stop lights!!!!
