Oh well... here's all the latest news. The best is seeing Larry Dixon move into Allen Johnson's new top fuel team. 8) 8) 8) Now, if we could just get the sun to come back out....

Title: Re: Winternationals Post by: Dustin on February 06, 2009, 06:13:04 am Sunday! Sunday! Sunday! Anyone else gonna be there this weekend? If there is the slightest chance of clearing tomorrow, I'll be there for a few hours with my grandson and Father in Law. Then Scott P. and I have tickets for Sat & Sunday. Title: Re: Winternationals Post by: ian c on February 06, 2009, 07:33:41 am looked at tickets last week ...
too rich for me :'( have a good time , take plenty of pics !! Title: Re: Winternationals Post by: Gary Justus on February 06, 2009, 18:15:03 pm I got the "fan relief" tickets for $20. Eric and I went yesterday. I like Thursdays the best. Everybody's there, nobody's broken (yet) and it is ALL DAY racing. Saw Jim Dutcher, Roger Crawford and Johnny Leso. We all talked about the economy and the racing. Johnny's driving a 7 second fuel altered in the ANRA now. Roger says nobody's picking their stuff up and Jim said "take a time-out and finish the '55"... Oh, yeh....Winternationals. We left a little after 2:00 when it started to rain. The day was called at 3:17. The only biggy that we saw (actually had just left our seats) was a guy who plowed the tree! In all the years of going to Pomona, I've never seen that. There was one really cool injected alcohol dragster that had the driver's cockpit at the front axle. Wild! Kinda reminded me of a T.V. Tommy Ivo style car. It didn't do well on the pass we saw. That's all I've got to report.

I take it they're still running 1000ft passes? ;D Just the fuel classes. To their credit, the NHRA did televise the first round of eliminations yesterday afternoon. No one made a pass without "pedaling" in the fuel classes. The air was cold and the track even colder... makes for the rear tires wanting to drive over themselves into tire shake. Thanks Sarge, love the shoebox pic.5. Thanks, Harry 8) Title: Re: Winternationals Post by: ESH on February 10, 2009, 21:26:09 pm ... Thanks... My employer "forced" me to take the day off so me and the grandson headed to Ponoma to catch the rest of the racing action. Got to see some S/S racing which is always fun. Not a whole lot to report other than Greg Anderson posting a 6.53 @211.9. I won't announce any winners for those are waiting to see the broadcast. The driver's were very approachable due to the circumstances so we got lots of autographs on the X-small event T-shirt, including Cory Mac's. One of these days I'll bring a real camera, in the mean time, here's a few shots of the S/S action from the spyphone... Title: Re: Winternationals Post by: Dustin on February 11, 2009, 05:34:51 am And a couple from the pits. I need that Nova scooter for the grandson ;D
