Title: Fitting Type1 wide 5 Drums onto an IRS setup
Post by: 71CALRIPPER on February 25, 2009, 16:50:53 pm
Ok i cant use the Type3 drums so what do i need to do to a stock wide 5 drum?

Machine 7 do a conversion , but to me it just looks like a small amount of machine work ?

http://www.machine7.com/product.php?xProd=1623&xSec=2283

If anybody knows the measurements i will buy a stock setup and just get the machine work done.

Thank you
Rob

I'm pretty sure for the rear you can just use a standard T1 5 lug drum and early shoes and use a spacer between the drum and axle nut. For the front, it is almost the same except no spacer.

those drums are stock 55-63 split bug ones which have been machined down ;D

hey Rob,
the drums in the machine 7 link are the same size as standard 4-stud drums,i.e. wider than stock wide 5 brake shoes by about 10mm.
they only need machining down if your axles are shorter, speak to Michael Leche if you need advice,he's very helpful.
all the best,
gary.
