I Have Question maybe you guys can help with?  I have a Pair Of dropped  Ball joint Spindles and they have two Tie rod Holes on each Spindle (Small or Large tie rod end? I dont Know?) they have CB Performance cast on the backs of the Spindle, But I called CB and they said they never made Spindles with two Tie Rod Holes? Ok Here is My Question?  I am Using a 2 inch narrowed Beam and the shorter tie rods I want to mill off one  of the tie rod holes I think they look funny with two but if I do will this in anyway effect  my turning I have asked others and they dont really know they say it should not because the tie rod lengh would make up any differences  What are your Experiences with this thanks in advance for any Help on this.  Thanks Shubee ;D  I know using a narrowed Beam you lose some turning radias.

it says ?alot of ball joint dropped spindles have two holes for the tie rod end. you should have the tie rod end installed in the hole thats toward the inside of the car, not the one towards the wheel itself.

Why Would it Matter Which Hole you Use??? ??? ???

it says something in that thread about quicker steering .

inner hole (nearest spindle) will be quicker steering

it should be the same because you are just making the tie rod long to make up the difference??

stand in front of your desk , put a piece of a4 in-line with the left corner  ...

hold the bottom left corner with your left finger , this point is the spindle .
the top-left corner is the front of the tire , the left side of the desk is strait ahead or your fender edge .
the bottom of the paper(facing you) is the arm on the spindle , your right finger is the steering-arm .

now put your right finger on the bottom right corner and push away from you 6" .
see how far the "wheel" has travelled from the desk ?? (paper hanging over left side )
now go back to the start , then do the same , but push the middle of the paper 6" away from you .....
same effort with your right finger (steering) has got more turn on the "wheel" , or less steering effort for same ammount of turn .

its not exactly how the spindle works as the arm is at an angle from the wheel , rather than 90degree , and the "push" from the steering is the other way ....
but you get the idea (i hope)

i used my cig pack , but the effect is more noticable on a4 ;)

edit : lay awake in bed thinking how best to describe my "experiment" .

bugpack are showing forged dropped spindles with 2 holes .
i guess you can phone them tommorrow and ask ..
they also sell a tie-rod relocating kit to spin the joint .

I Want to mill off the outer tie Rod Hole on the Dropped Spindle and use the Inner Hole What Will this Change? or Afect?  Anyone Done this Before?  Please let Me Know I want to hear from someone that has done this and want to hear the Outcome of there Experience with it Thanks Shubee

I used some of these 2-hole units a while back ... used the outermost holes.
I may even have another set at the shop. I'll take a look and get back when I have some info, or a proper, completely unfocused and biased opinion for ya! ;D

Located and have the spindles ... in hand, now for the intense, psycho/socio interigation proceedure to find the TRUTH behind this pathetic and bitter display of corruption levered on the VW performance community.

After extensive testing and rigorous analysis, it has been decided that the extra holes ease installation of narrowed beams and have very little if any affect on steering geometry as they are less than 1/8" closer to the upper balljoint centerline.
If a popular 2" narrowed beam were installed, the outermost holes (as viewed from heaven) would serve best as no shortening of the tierods would be necessary.
That's my conclusion and I'm stickin' to it!

... So, yes, mill off the innermost hole (as viewed from the eagle's nest) and call it done.
