Will you be retaining the liquid cooling system or with it being a racer just running no cooling? I noticed you blanked off the connections on the case to the cooling system but ran hoses to them...

Post by: Fastbrit on April 26, 2009, 23:18:46 pm Measuring the valvespring install presure i am going to work whith a single spring set up i notice that there was a lot off tension on the aftermarket valve springs for me they are way overdone so if you replace youre springs check them properly before install. One of the big reasons for running dual (or triple) springs is that they are designed to cut out the harmonics found in a single spring which can lead to valve float at high rpm. It is, in my opinion, unlikely that you will be able to sustain high rpm using just a single valve spring set-up. It is not just a question of valve spring pressure...Henri. i also worked on the engine to get it finished for bitburg . i step to a turbo draw trouhg set up while the supercharger setup still under construction is i quit like this kind of turbo set ups the are the american way . i saw mr webbs old engine on ebi with the same set up and i was impressed of its performance so theres not so much differend in an efi or carb setup if it is propperly tuned so i hope myn runs well on the carter carb. Post by: mr horsepower on October 11, 2009, 13:06:39 pm So time for an update bitburg didnt went so good for us the thurstday before at 20:15 almost dark i made a testrun drove it of the truck and warmed it up and hit the trottle the turbo spooled up real nice but in a high rpm range due the small 1.9 engine the boost and rpm was not under control i could not read the rpm and boost gauge i was trying to hold the bug on the road it went wel i was thinking bitburg here we come
i worked friday to get the car preped for the weekend . at bitburg first run no turbo pressure had no power maybe it was the boost control or rpm limiter . at the second run after checking it blowed a waterplug out of the rear . we worked to get the shit plug watertight it was sitting there for 4 jears and never leaked the thirth run stil no boost and power michael had no more than 3 gears an it woudln shift anymore there was a loose nut at the shifter we maneged to fixed it fourth run i noticed the was a lot of smoke coming out the engine still no power back in the pit there was a cracked intake gasked so i thouged that wher the boost is going we fixed the gasked . fifth run the was a lot of smoke and no power michael called me from the end of the track and told me the oil catch tank was flooding then i knew the race was over . we drove the car back on the truck . but we had a great weekend together with the otto bros and there familly my dad brother racecees tiki madness cnc wizzard delrue micha 64 dirk the four play bad bitch team ome sande and crew and all the other i forgot to write down. after a week in the garage i pulled the 1\2 head after a cr check there was no cr at at #1cilinder i had loades of under pressure . ill found that piston #1 was cracked between the the cr rings after thinking it over it happend at the test run but the engine sounded verry nice untill the catch tank was full with oil . i mounted a other piston an bolted it back together i went for a test run at saturday and it pulled like crazy on the road wheelspin til third gear everytime exces the 0.5 pressure i drove til 1.0 bar pressure and the car realy kicks ass but in bitburg it was driving like shit wat i do know is that the tiki turbo set up worked wel and that my engine and transmission is in good shape the car handels good at 180 kmh so the turbo is going on the tiki and my 1.9 gets his supercharger for 2010 season so with a little work the car should perform better next year . we had a great weekend in bitburg thanks to everyone . i worked on the superchargers nose ill shortend it and welded some parts and made a poulie , i also started with the wiring for the efi and placed a efi pump filter and presuure regulator , i also placed the batery in the front of the carand replaced the fuel tank and rail it realy taking shape now, now its time to make all the electiric to work ,and place the engine this time everyting has to be right to race in drachten and bitburg i take my time for it to do it properly , so i hope to get it in the 12s in bitburg ,its only a smaal 1.9 on a heavy street legal car. here are some pics enjoy. gr Henri Title: Re: supercharged drag car CRAZY FROG RACER 2009 !!!!! Nice to see you working on the car again by the way. jesse Title: Re: crazy frog gets a full race automatic transmission!! Post by: mr horsepower on November 11, 2010, 21:44:28 pm Hi i already figured out what i wil do with the axles.
today i worked on the bellt tensioner i made a double pulley that wil drive the alternator by a serpentine belt. next thing to do is make proper brackets and polish them . i am going to make a new plenum that goes to the double chargecooler and thn back to the engine with a blow of valve in it . I also did some cutting on the chassis and body today . next is to buy some iron and weld a new sub frame and connect it to the rollcage . Yes its going to take shape i am getting close to have my full automatic blown drag bug with two kirkey seats and interieur so i can cruise around town in the summer with my kids and do big burn outs the old v8 jaguar is no fun annymore, also because they help me with the project and they like it, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0LigrZusH18 gr henri Title: Re: crazy frog gets a full race automatic transmission!! Post by: mr horsepower on January 15, 2011, 14:50:31 pm Hi loungers here s a little update,i redisigned the rearframe for the auto trans and make some brackets to hook it up
i also rebuilded the autotrans and modifid it. Everything sits in place now it was a lot of cutting and grinding. The converter is send to a partner he is going to rebuild it for higher stall speed about 4000 rpm s Next to do is install the shifter and rebuild the brain of the box and install a transbrake . Therefore i am going to use a linelock solonoid . I hope you enjoy the pics. gr Henri Title: Re: crazy frog gets a full race automatic transmission!! Post by: mr horsepower on January 22, 2011, 19:39:10 pm Hi today i was realy happy i recieved my 2 kirkey racing seats and interior parts and droped them right in .
my goal is to build a pro street racing interior. I also modified the rollcage this week to fit the second seat . the most of the cutting is done now its going to look like a car again i am happy with the result so far and this is just the begin . and i still like my 1966 buick wildcat steeringwheel I hope i can cruise on the streets again this year. enyoy the pics gr Henri Title: Re: crazy frog gets a full race automatic transmission!! Post by: mr horsepower on February 16, 2011, 22:57:23 pm So an update again for who s interested.
I picked up an old beetle and kut out the rear end of the body. Then y started to drill all the fucking spotwelds out . Then i sandblasted the rusty section of the body parts and welded the rotten spots. And then i welded the left inner fender back in the car and connected the rollcage to the body. thats all for tonight dudes. gr henri Title: Re: crazy frog gets a full race automatic transmission!! its stable enough do . Title: Re: crazy frog gets a full race automatic transmission!! Post by: mymedusa on March 10, 2011, 09:43:48 am damn, i can't see how that trans will perform.
but one question, you really want go blow through with that supercharger and is there a reason for that? wishes from germnay chris Title: Re: crazy frog gets a full race automatic transmission!! Post by: mr horsepower on March 10, 2011, 20:09:47 pm Yes the reason is that when its pull trough the mixture will be beaten by the blender effect of the worm wheels and separate the fuel form the oxygen ,and thats bad for engine performance and engine life .
Intercooled efi is the way to go for me. And i like the fast boost reaction of the charger ,it wil go on boost as soon as i hit the trottle. So no spooling the turbo up anymore as i have a small engine 1.9 this is the best for me. i am gaining for a 300 hp at the crank but its a long way ,the torque wil be a more great issue because its there as i blimp the pedal. gr henri damn, i can't see how that trans will perform. but one question, you really want go blow through with that supercharger and is there a reason for that? wishes from germnay chris Title: Re: crazy frog gets a full race automatic transmission!! Post by: mymedusa on March 11, 2011, 16:07:04 pm thats not that bad, the heat will vaporise the fuel and the mix is good as well.
but in a efi you have no fuel there. and boost respons is also 1:1 with gaspedal in a draw through. why i ask: in blow you will need a huge blow by system and the supercharger has alot of parasitic when going from the throttle that will make alot more heat. draw through with bypass is the best way to go with supercharger. but on the stripe it doesn't matter. on the road it will run colder. what ind of bypass want you use? a sec. throttle like g40 g60 engines or a vacuum tin style? but definitly yes to the all time torque...i love my daily driver 30ps engine. 150nm from 1700-3000rpm and 70hp at 3900rpm out of close to stock 30hp heads with 1200cc that is torque like a stock 2.0 typ4 . i bet you will have alooooot of torque down below. have fun chris from germany Title: Re: crazy frog gets a full race automatic transmission!! Engine oil press engine temp Transmission oil press Transmission oil temp I needed space to build them in and so i can have a good look to it I decieded to use a original black dash cover and i most say it looks good as the whole interieur is going to be black that looks good in a daily/strip car the work for today is mock up so its not ready yet I am happy with the trans gauges so i can monitor what the trans press is doing vs trans temp. I took some pics enjoy Title: Re: crazy frog gets a full race automatic transmission and a big blower engine Post by: mr horsepower on October 20, 2011, 22:00:19 pm Hi today i worked on the trottle linkage and manifols and belt tension system .
the linkage is working now and finished. i had to make some tubes of alloy on the lath to fit in the manifold to suport it when the bolts are torqed its a nice tight shiny fit but you never see it but its al in the details. the belt tensioner is also ready now i can order a belt, next to do is welding the alloy pipes from the manifold to the tbi s. enjoy the pics its getting there . tomorow i am recieving my last autometer gauges an can i fit them gr henri Title: Re: crazy frog gets a full race automatic transmission and a big blower engine Post by: Harry/FDK on October 21, 2011, 16:03:35 pm Henri, you spend a lot of money on the Optima. can recharge them with that charger? gr henri Title: Re: crazy frog gets a full race automatic transmission and a big blower engine Post by: mr horsepower on November 22, 2011, 20:10:50 pm Hey i did some work today .
Ill changed an old autometer shiftlight to a oilpress warning light. I noticed that many race car engines have a to slow working oil press sender and when an engine comes in the shop . With all the bearings eaten out the costumer says ,but the light didn t come on! Its important to have a quick working oil warning light And a customers project went on the dyno this week we did the tranny engine and rear axle. It pulled 381 rwhp and loads of torque . Hit the throttle at 50 kmh and you can buy new rear tyres just wanted to share the project because i think its a realy nice restored 65 gto pics gr henri Title: Re: crazy frog gets a full race automatic transmission and a big blower engine Post by: Harry/FDK on November 23, 2011, 12:09:46 pm Hi Hary ii have two opima s that are on low volts the are from the same used batch as the two good ones . can recharge them with that charger? gr henri Yes, these chargers are perfect just for that. Its almost done and i think its looking good and it al works fine . And i did some work on the torque converter I got hold on a vw rabbit type convertor and there stall is about 2400 rpm , i hope that. i can get 3200 out of it ,Then i know what to to with the new one. But the starter ring gear and aircooling was not provided on the rabbit type so it has to we welded over. It took a lot of time to get it dialed in but it fits quite nice now. I will see how accurate my work was when i have it balanced. So for me one step futher. And after that i did my first airbrush on a old chevy fender. Just for relaxing . enjoy gr Henri Title: Re: crazy frog gets a full race automatic transmission and a big blower engine Post by: tikimadness on December 11, 2011, 21:36:51 pm good busy Henri ;D ;D

Nice build. 010 transmission and SC is what I had but never finished years ago. I added a turbo blowing in to the SC and while having some fun mapping on the open road, I melted pistons and more. When building it new, it had another concept. I am still and will continue to love teh roque, respone and more from the SC. Good luck! Now i can build the converter as i planed i have 7 different codes now. The G code is rare . And enough parts to make it twincharge in the future. As for the car i did some metalwork cutting and grinding if all the little pieces are ready my other cousin wil weld them in place. I am making good progres now it is a verry verry lot of work and i am not taking the easy route here. But i am getting there to build a one of a kind bug. I did all the mock up for the Efi and supercharger and going to finish it on a mock up engine so it will be a bolt on kit. I recieved my pump rod from Frallan (BIG THANKS TO HIM) bolted the engine and tranny together and fitted an stock 1600 carb and dist unit finished loads of littlethings like brake lines axles spring plates fuel lines electric and on and on But after i filled the tranny with atf oil and gear oil I primed the whole system And the after 5.5 years i turned the key and bam!! If fired right on running like a kitten I took a sit on the coolbox that for now is my seat and pulled in gear and released the brake and it was going forward. itook it for aspin in the alley behind my house an erverything is working perfect but it was a funny feeling driving an autobox in a bug It reacts fast on the trottle like the car has no weight I am happy that it feels good The next thing to do is get the car on MOT and do a lot of testdriving on the highway And in town and country to get it relyable like brakes cooling alignment and so . And then if my wife can drive it to go shopping then its ready to build the charger and efi on . I have the feeling that this is going to be a good handiling car that can visit lots of meetings Gr henri Title: Re: crazy frog gets a full race automatic transmission and a big blower engine Post by: Frallan on June 01, 2014, 19:08:53 pm Cool!

i took it for spin around the block , and It drives very relaxed and the shifting is nice once i gif it full throttle i can see the trans oil pressure go way up And then the shiftings are firm , it wil skid the tyres 1/2nd So i can cruise it down the street and go hard on the strip with it Thats the way i wanted it to perform And my hurst pistol grip shifter is so much fun to play with I am so glad that the car is running again since 2009 Now i can do some finnese to it Now getting it ready for mot And the take it on the road In the winter i wil put the supercharger on it along with the transbrake and high stall converter Yeah!!!!! i love it gr henri Title: Re: crazy frog gets a full race automatic transmission and a big blower engine Post by: mr horsepower on August 13, 2014, 18:57:33 pm the car

i put the longer stroke cranck in the engine . Sealed the oilpump and lots more . I made an torque plate to stresshone the cilinders for more wall clearance. when i have them back comming week i can finish the engine and build it in the car Next step is to get the plumbing for the Turbo lines and charge cooler. A friend is comming to help me out with the wiring for the engine manegment system So hopfully i have a running car this season. gr henri Title: Re: crazy frog beef up the engine Post by: The Fugitive on May 06, 2015, 22:24:07 pm Post en Dros ? ;D

and then it was time to build the engine and also make al the fittings and sensors for the efi I got hold of a set 600 cc injectors that wil feed the engine i have to make a custom fuelrails for it that i am working on right now So when thats finish i can put the engine back in the car and hopefully get my mot The first few hundered km or so i will drive it whitout the turbo Just N/a to see if everything is working correct . gr henri Title: Re: crazy frog beef up the engine Post by: mr horsepower on May 30, 2015, 20:32:38 pm Yes today the engine is ready to go into the car

and i hope that the stalspeed is around 4000 rpm now Stallspeed wil say that i canput the enginebrake on and load the engine till 4000 on launch and not much happend until i let go the launch button Then the engine rpm wil rise and above the 4000 the converter will hook on and passing its multible torque to the gearbox factor 2:1 :o Thats why it can be verry effective Inside my torque converter are manny parts that are upgraded and midified from a porsche unit Like needle bearings welded and hardened vanes polished and machined stator and turbine and an enlarged on way clutch And its also made lighter . The engine is also back in the car and it al fits wel til now lets see i can let this baby launch hard in the future . Thats the first goal ,speed is a later issue. Converter stall is also termided by engine torque as i dont know the engine torque yet it will be a gues now . If its way of we have to open it again and do some mods until its rigth on the spot. so no charge yet. till now gr Henri Title: Re: crazy frog The torque converter Post by: mr horsepower on June 06, 2015, 23:03:29 pm https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pTfipsejqS0 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pTfipsejqS0)

I hooked up an old weber at the efi intake and made an downflow fueltank that i put on the roof . put a point distrubitor in it . and it fired right up . It runs nice no more smoke and no funny noises and good oil pressure ,the converter is working to . A buddy of my picked up the ecu he is gonna do the wiring and in 3 weeks its finished. Now i can realy get it finished ,got a running car at last if everything goes wel i wil bring it to bitburg this year to do some test runs Just to see if its getting of the line and run straigth. and ofcourse to make it reliable so that i can run it all day long in normal traffic. gr henri Title: Re: crazy frog beef up the engine Post by: mychatype3 on June 24, 2015, 12:36:33 pm Now i can realy get it finished ,got a running car at last if everything goes wel i wil bring it to bitburg this year to do some test runs Just to see if its getting of the line and run straigth. so does the clutch hook up at 4k rpm? meaning anything less is slips? how does that work out with normal driving? Title: Re: crazy frog beef up the engine Post by: mr horsepower on November 25, 2015, 17:08:39 pm Hi Andy
In theory it will hook at that rpm range But it isnt freewheeling also . It wil push the car forward thats why it wil need a transbrake That stops the input and output shaft from turning And the engine needs to be strong enough to overcome the resistant of the tc So it has more slip than stock But still good street drivebilety i hope . Gr henri Gr Title: Re: crazy frog beef up the engine Post by: Frallan on November 26, 2015, 07:14:26 am I had a beetle with turbo engine and automatic.
The Munsinger torque converter would lock up at above 5000 rpm. It sounded sick when drag racing. People told me something was wrong. But no. Fully normal for that setup. On the street, it was smooth and nice. Fuel economy.....not that I noticed but I guess she was pretty thirsty.
