Title: Thunderbird Dual quiet muffler for bug, 38mm (1 1/2")-still available? Post by: Gregor/DFL on December 28, 2006, 12:21:33 pm Hi guys!
Does anyone know where I still can get a new replacement muffler of the type stated above? It has the "large" flange, 3bolt, rounded shape, the top bolt on the "12:00" position. Thunderbird doesnīt produce this version any more, but Iīd like to keep my ceramic coated header. I already contacted a bunch of dealers, but they couldnīt help me further :( I need the "Thunderbird" one as this one is mentioned in my vehiclesīdocuments to keep it street legal. So does anyone have a hint for me? Thanks! Title: Re: Thunderbird Dual quiet muffler for bug, 38mm (1 1/2")-still available? Post by: Diederick/DVK on December 28, 2006, 22:25:34 pm I'm sorry i can't help you, but if you find it i'll be interested too! I have a 12 o'clock header too and you don't see many mufflers for it.
Btw, is it ceramic coated, or ...? Title: Re: Thunderbird Dual quiet muffler for bug, 38mm (1 1/2")-still available? Post by: Sven/DFL on December 28, 2006, 22:27:18 pm Hi Gregor, try it by ssp! I think they will have a Dualquite Muffler in ceramic coated that looks like the Thunderbird one! i think you can have it in a merged version and for standard Headers!

The single quiet mufflers for the standard "large" flanges are still available at Custom & Speed Parts in Germany, e.g. They are available in a standard black or a ceramic coated version: Check out www.customspeedparts.de and then go to "e-shop". @Sven: Iīll check that, thanks! Maybe Iīll go for the 35mm one and modify the flange to match my 38mm header. As Iīd like to have the black one, it should be possible to repaint it after welding... Post by: Diederick/DVK on December 29, 2006, 13:05:54 pm as long as it's a neat welding job it will do. i've seen it before, but i think it can look better than this:

if the position of the small flange is the problem then why not cut it off, twist it and re-weld it? On a non-ceramic-coated muffler thatīs no big deal!
