Title: neat oldschool switch Post by: Diederick/DVK on April 24, 2009, 12:19:03 pm i'm looking for a neat kill switch for my magneto.
with oldschool i mean it has to go with my VDO cockpit gauges etc. i don't know much about switches in terms of DPDT etc. but what i'm looking for is EITHER an ON - OFF switch, or a 0 - 1 - 2 switch where i can connect my fuel pump to the 1 and BOTH fuel and ignition on 2. please let me know if i can find these elsewhere Title: Re: neat oldschool switch Post by: JS on April 24, 2009, 16:22:51 pm I think an old on/off switch from an old guitar amp like the ones they used on Fender, Marshall, Vox etc looks cool.

Title: Re: neat oldschool switch Post by: Diederick/DVK on April 27, 2009, 00:41:39 am see, there i go again. you got me thinking, a switch is a switch, right?
how can it not handle a current? Title: Re: neat oldschool switch Post by: nicolas on April 27, 2009, 08:18:42 am see, there i go again. you got me thinking, a switch is a switch, right? how can it not handle a current? because a wire is not a wire(the same reason they have different thickness off wires in a car, all is 12V, but amps are different) . it has to be able to take the amps and not burn through or heat up and melt. ;) Title: Re: neat oldschool switch Post by: BeetleBug on April 27, 2009, 08:44:10 am see, there i go again. you got me thinking, a switch is a switch, right? how can it not handle a current? because a wire is not a wire(the same reason they have different thickness off wires in a car, all is 12V, but amps are different) . it has to be able to take the amps and not burn through or heat up and melt. ;) He he.. In a house; lots of volts but not much amps In a car; lots ov ampsr and not much volt As Niclas state, make sure your switch can handle it. A typical main switch for a car can take from 150 amps to 500 amps. Look at your battery, what is the peak amps? Cold start amps? Quite high is my guess.
