Title: Replacement of Type 1 pick up tube Post by: Lids on January 02, 2007, 17:46:10 pm In another thread I have been chatting with Pete Roberts about replacing the standard pick up tube with an aftermarket item from Auto-craft.
This looks to be a cheap and very reliable solution. I have a couple of questions. How is the pick up tube fixed into the case (apart from the little nut and stud). Pete has the line routed into the pump. I was thinking it must be possible to tap the gallery where the pick up tube is normally located and feed a line into the case here. I must have to also block this passge to create suction. Anybody got any ideas? Pictures of Petes setup here. It is a press fit though, so you have to tap on the PU tube and rock it back and forth until it is out. The external PU tube is made for a pump with exernal suction like Autocrafts.

If there is crap in the oil, it would be filtered before it got to the bearings. Or do you think there would be a problem with the suction?
