Title: lap belt mounts
Post by: louisb on April 26, 2009, 22:29:23 pm
I plan to run 4 point racing harnesses in the '66 and I have a question about the lap belt mounts. Is there any problem with using the stock mounting location on my '66? Using the stock mounting points would put it close to the maximum of 60 deg. Any thoughts or input?

Thanks,

I used the stock mounting locations in my '69 for my new a Simpson belts ... just used their ring-style mounts. They work great!

I'm not a big fan of using the center two mounting points, one due to their location (front-to-back), and two they change the angle on one side of the belt. The seat belt angle should be close to 45 degrees as possible. I know it would make things easier, but..... I covered this subject in my pan story in HVWs...

Mine were ~ 38 degrees right and 40 left using the stock mounting locations. It's a '69.
I may consider relocating them when I install a cage/rollbar.

I was futzing around with it some more and I will probably relocate them as described in your article Deano. Just one more thing to add to the list.

Thanks,
