Title: another point of view
Post by: Luftkraft on April 30, 2009, 21:42:21 pm
Just found a great (cal look) VW related thread on a hot rod & kustom message board... Check it out, there are some famous names, cool pics and stories to be discovered.

At least they acknowledge VW's over there.... the H.A.M.B. looks at our community like dirt under their fingernails.  There's no place like home, though and that's The Lounge! 8)

Thanks everyone for checking out out board and seeing that we are TOTALLY more open-minded than the "other" boards. Stupid to think a bunch of LONG TERM hot rodders don't have a liking for Volkswagens. I think the guys that don't appreciate them generally haven't been doing it very long. Posting a littl more background in another post. Thanks! Jim

I really have a problem trying to see there point of view.
What a bunch of total SNOBS.
The best (probably worst) analogy I can make from their point of view is this:
I also belong to a forum for machinists/welders ... the Hotrod forum point of view is if I were to post that I cannot and will not answer to or suggest information to another welder that doesn't own a newer, high frequency welding machine as they don't have the machinery/equipment to make constructive comments/questions worthy of my time.

Just my point of view. I guess I shouldn't have read the post, although I appreciate the authors attempt.
I think I'll drive my Beetle to the next local 'HotRod' show just to raise some Hell.

WHOAAAAAA!!! We had NO ANIMOSITY or ill feeling in our forum. Don't know where it got derailed. We like Volkswagens and look forward to building a bond between the two boards. Thanks Jim

I understand, Jim.
But, I read it a couple times and the are some with a more narrow the point of view I speak of.
I can't think of near anything cooler than building an early to mid sixties Gasser replica or a '32 HiBoy, so I'm wide open from my point of view as well.
But, I've been involved witha nd HotRodding a certain '69 Bug for over 30 years ...
Hope you see where I coming from.
Tom
