we are starting our race car proyect, but we have a lot of questions about doing it right :-\ ??? first of all this is the shell, a 1963 bug. (http://img389.imageshack.us/img389/6260/pb220027.jpg) (http://img24.imageshack.us/img24/6595/pb220028.jpg) this bug was hit in the front so we bought the front clip trying to fix it and restored, but we decided to cut the whole thing again and use a fiber glass front.. (http://img21.imageshack.us/img21/3063/pb220037.jpg) (http://img530.imageshack.us/img530/1484/pb220039.jpg) and this is the floor pan (http://img528.imageshack.us/img528/8655/pc070005.jpg) (http://img515.imageshack.us/img515/6623/pc070006.jpg) the first thing that we want to do is to raise the transmision. so here is our first answer: how many inches can be raised? i saw the mounts from ron lummus and a.j. sims and they only raise 1" is that o.k. or we can raised more than that? beacuse we are thinking in 3 inches. thanks for take your time to read this and we apreciate all your help :) jose luis p.s. sorry for my english, i'm not that good :-\ Title: Re: THE MEXICAN RACER! About the raising of the tranny,3 inches can be done but the shifting rod needs to be taken out of the tunnel and fixed on the tunnel,you also have to raise the part where the shifter will come becoz of the raise. Use a Bus nose cone on the bug trans, and raise the trans up until the shift rod lines up. Should be about 2".
