The Cal-look Lounge

Time to hit the streets for another DKP Saturday drive.  Got to Nick's at 8:00 am this morning and hooked up with Rayburn, Dustin, Jason and Ben for a cruise out to Corona.  Dustin had promised his services to ScottP who is busy thrashing on his Ghia in hopes of making this years Classic.  It's a sunny warm day today and the drive east out Orangethorpe Ave is a hoot with plenty of stoplights to lean on the throttle.  Soon we are lost on the back roads of Carona but not for long as we eventually make our way out to Tom's Farms where the place is abuzz with Harley Davidsons.  After a quick sandwich and a cold one, we are back on the road and headed for Scott's house.  By the time we showed up, it had to be 90 degrees.... Scott's car is lookin' GOOD! 8) 8) 8)  After leaving Scott's, Rayburn headed back to OC and Ben and Jason came over for a few more brewski's.... now it's time to tune into NHRA action on the tube or more likely, a nap.  Life is good! ;D

There seems to be much confusion and misinformation regarding the status and condition of my Ghia. Let me say to all that the car is in excellent condition and has been stored for several years. Unfortunately rumors continue to run rampant about about its condition. I cannot and will not attempt to address them all. Let me state in the most unequivocal manner that I can as is possible:  the car will NOT be brought out to ANY shows in the near future. While I do plan to bring it out in the future, it will be on a selective basis and without any notice. Thanks for your interest in my Ghia.

All of those cars are nice! :) Cool to see completed cars that haul a$$ actually being driven on the street! How do you guys keep them nice and still drive em'? My car has been in primer for 10 years and everyone bumps it, crashes into it, leans against it (etc) and I have to pull the "Charlie Manson" routine on them for damaging my car!  >:( Takes the fun outta driving a classic car...At least sometimes!

What size and brand are the rear tires on the blue 64 bug behind sarge's car (last photo posted as of now)? That car looks really good with the combo it has (popouts, wheels/tires, vert decklid etc) :). It seems like more guys build the 65 and up cars and you  don't see as many pre 65's.

Actually I'd be interested in finding out the front tire size as well if someone knows it. I don't really like the 145's I have (but they are way better than the old 135's ;D) so I am thinking about putting more rubber under my car and making it more "original" and drivable. I am getting burnt out always seeing the cars dropped with 6" narrowed beams (or whatever!) and the sump and exhuast 2" off the ground. Slowing down for manhole covers and driveways sucks!  ::)
