Title: Stringing wires from the dash to the engine bay...tips/tricks? Post by: bugnut68 on May 18, 2009, 18:46:56 pm Got my tach bolted up this weekend (pics to follow later) and now need to wire it up. Just curious as to how folks recommend routing the wiring from the dash back to the engine bay, as I'd like to redo my wiring for my gauges too. It's a '70 Bug we're speaking of here, and by no means a show car... I'd just like to keep the wiring as concealed and neat as possible ;D Thanks in advance.

Post by: bugnut68 on May 18, 2009, 19:16:37 pm Where do you route it in terms of getting it back to the engine bay, and how do you do so? The original harness goes beneath the driver's heater channel and back through the quarter panel and driver's rear fenderwell.. just looking on how to feed 'er through...

Post by: Jim Ratto on May 18, 2009, 19:19:21 pm I removed LH rear door panel, got a wire coat hanger, taped harness to hanger, then pushed it through from LR rear panel area to engine compartment. To get wiring to rear LR panel area, I ran it under carpet by LH door sill.

Post by: bugnut68 on May 18, 2009, 19:56:04 pm Thanks so much for the helpful hints, guys. Another question, how do you route your grounds for the gauges (both lights and the gauges themselves)? I've got multiple wires sharing grounds under the hood, just looking to find a cleaner approach...
