i am so tempted by this, scrap those horrible IDA's and upgrade.

Now running for cover as I wait for the abuse.

Looks similar to what the Bergs did years ago.  Tom Hansen had a set on his Bug.  They also had air cleaners that fit on top of the velocity stacks.

The linkage looks a little wimpy..... That so?

The Berg system had throttle machined into the top of an IDA manifold with injectors outboard, those in the pic are purpose made die  cast manifolds with throttle bodies bolted on. Linkage uses 5mm  stainless steel rods like most of the better german centre pull linkages and compared to say a Berg linkage it does look slightly more compact.

linkage is really nice and smooth. I've got one on my engine ;) works just grate :) easy adjustment enoug. movement etc...

the EFI system is a work of art. Manifolds are cast with injector boses and threded holes for nos noozles (one on each cilinder).
the throttle bodies are small and really compact CNC machined from billet aly. No gaskets just orings all way around.
Most of all they fit with cone air cleanres under the deck (2 sizes of billet aly velocity stacks for filters plus very light tacks that You can see on the pick).

the sstem in work conditions you could see on Santa Pod on 17th may in Johnys bug and also in Craig grey oval :).

hope to see some more of those beauties on Youre engines.

cheers Tom.

I will say I saw that system on craigs oval and it did look pretty awsome shame I didn't get to see it run with rain and all ::)

Whats the "programability" like ???

if You know what You're doing its really grate.

When You're buying the engine with one of the kits You got the map made for that engine (on the dyno and in road use) so You don't have to mess around the ECU :).

Quite the opposite, I have this set up on my car and the linkage is very precise. The throttle bodies also have very good return springs. So you don't have problems with the throttle not shutting off like carbs and some cross bar set ups.

Who is making this set up and what does it cost?

Rick Mortensen

A few questions:

How much?
Is the kit currently available?
I realize that the system is electronic (at least that's what the thread title suggests), but what else is further entailed? Examples would include; brain/computer, injector replacement availability, wiring, etc.
Is there a mechanical injection available?
What type of fuel pump and pressure are required?
Most importantly... how does it drive? Is the idle to primary circuit smooth throughout the range up to full throttle?

Here is the original thread: http://www.volkszone.com/VZi/showthread.php?t=432275

"It's about £2300 inc vat for the full kit with a DTA S40 -includes pulley with crank trigger, coil, leads, harness, fuel pump, regulator, linkage, injectors, stainless fuel rails, airfilters, tps, air and engine temp sensors.
Includes a dyno session with engine either in the car or out of the car."

You can run all fuel you wont, 95, Optimax, race fuel, E85 etc... :D

no mechanical injection jus EFI. the only "mechanical" things in there are the throttle shafts :D and linkage :)

as I remember the other (smaller throttle bodies) kit (the old one mainly for bus, typ25 and turbo aplications) was over 1500 pounds.

WOW, I just wet my pants :)
I read a nice quote somewhere some time ago:

"EFI, when IDA's are not enough"  ;D ;D

this is my setup for now (rebuilding)

cheers, Peter :'(

yep thats was my car ;D......i wanted to move over to efi a while back but i knew this system was on the cards so hung on till it was ready.
Its as good as it looks, fantastic quality all the way through........can't fault the system or the setup on the dyno....... ;D
it was worth the wait.

cheers

Craig
