Title: Widest tire on a stock rim Post by: louisb on June 02, 2009, 01:18:48 am What is the widest tire you can comfortably fit on a stock rim? Will a 185 or 195 fit? I am thinking about 165 fronts & 185 rears on stock '66 rims for the Manx. Trying to keep from spending money on rims if I can avoid it.

The taller the tire is, the better a wide tire will look/fit on a narrow wheel. Will it be lowered? A 165 in the front will be too tall if you plan on lowering it. Also, I don't think a 185 will work with a 165 up front (assuming you want a taller tire in the back), because a 185/65 is shorter, a 185/70 is about the same height (and expensive), and that's about all that's avaliable! That tire combo would look really good with the stock 4's up front and some 5.5's out back. A buggy really needs the extra offset in the rear ;)
