There are lots to choose from: Jaycee, Manton, Berg, Smith Brothers, Aircooled.net... I was wondering what you are running, with what type of spring pressures, and if you have had any problems or mishaps with any. It is funny when you get down to valve train geometry and have to select a pushrod that there are so many choices between materials, wall thickness, tapers... I guess the decisions never end. Bugpack # 4046 springs in my motors since late 1990's. I set them up for about 300-320lb over the nose. I'm using air-cooled.net's aluminum straight pushrods in my street car as of 2003 w/ above springs. The pushrods get slid out every other valve adj (when I check torque on lower head studs), check to make sure they're not pretzels or tips are going away. No signs of anything going wrong since. I had a set of Scat's go south in late 90's.... it was a batch of pushrod tips that didn't get heat treated. No biggie. I like the zing my motor seemed to gain when switching to Alu pushrods. Yes I set my valve lash to .005" now Bugpack 4046's have always been the most consistent valve spring I've run. No surprises. set them up right and keep oil cool and they live. Post by: Sarge on June 11, 2009, 19:46:39 pm Berg 3/8" chromoly for me with Berg inner and outer springs and OEM 911 valve adjustment screws, Engle 125, Scat lifters, 1.1:1 rockers.... 25,000 miles; no problems and very little in the way of adjustments. I've always set valve lash at .004" cold.

Post by: Lee.C on June 11, 2009, 20:10:44 pm Hmmmmm interesting thread - I have just been advise dto go back to Ali push rods - I was running 3/8 cromoloy items and I set them at 2thou cold - Now when the engine got hot it was a little too noisey! (rattley) meaning the gaps were opening up alot - meaning loss of power, more wear, more noise etc etc
The Guys at the formula Vee place that is doing my heads seems to think with my mild cam (engle100) and soft/single springs there is NO need for cromolies they take STOCK push rods to over 8k with NO problems waht so ever :o Title: Re: I am curious as to which pushrods you are running nowadays. Just messing with ya. ;D I agree with Sarge, the Berg push rods work very well, I've used them in mild to wild motors with all different types of spring set-ups with no problems. I've used Matons before, there nice, but I prefer Berg's.
