Title: Bosch 010 and 019 rebuild service
Post by: glenn on June 23, 2009, 01:47:03 am
Not sure if you all know that I rebuild all the old cast iron distributors including the 383, BR8, BR25, 019 and 010.

Every one is disassembled, cleaned, inspected and reassembled using genuine Bosch parts. Evey one is repainred and then tested on my Sun 600 Distributor Tester. I can also install new Bosch tune up parts.

If you are interested in getting your distributor rebuild send a email to glenn@glenn-ring.com and i'll give you pricing and details. I do ship worldwide.

Restored Bosch 010 on the right, NOS Bosch 010 on the left. Can you tell the difference?

Extremely cool, Glenn. I may be sending you my .010 in the future. And to answer your question... the only differences that I detect are the cadmium plated screws on the n.o.s. unit. Other than that, fantastic job on the restored one.

I've had Glenn rebuild both, 010 and 019. He installed Pertronix points for me on both distributors, and they operate Flawless! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

The weird part is only 2 of the 6 screws are cad plated while the other 4 are silver. I also have a near NOS 010 that all the screws are silver.

I use them as my sample so I know how a restored one should look like.

I also have a few brand new German dark brown caps available which are the same color as the original Bosch caps.

No worries... I was really trying to look for differences and that's all that I came up with. Very impressive work, Glenn. When I'm ready to build my engine, my distributor will be going on a trip across the country. I'm glad that the brown caps are still available. I assumed that only the black ones were. Hopefully, my guess is right on that.

The brown are not easy to get but I have a supplier that can order them. I only have 2 in stock but will order a few more when those are gone.

They are a much cheaper alternative to the NOS Bosch which are very hard to find and thus very expensive.

No they are totally different. They are actually the same and made by Mallory. Contact John C. @ Aircooled.net. I think he stocks parts for them.

I don't have any NOS brown caps for sale but I do have some new German caps that are the same color.
