Title: Anyone running E85 regularly? Post by: JLaw on January 15, 2007, 17:50:12 pm I heard that you can get it at the pump in some countries, whos using it in there high po cal lookers- is it better than 99ron? Should we be looking into adapting our cars to run it? I'd like to hear the views of those that use it.
Cheers John. Title: Re: Anyone running E85 regularly? Post by: Roman on January 15, 2007, 19:19:53 pm It has both pros and cons.
Pros: Cools better More octane Less sensitive to weather changes - less jetting changes. Cons: Takes forever to get warm Less energy Harms rubber You need more fuel - the driving range is shorter. People think you have some kind of miracle fuel , they think you're cheating! According to JPM there is 4-5 hp to gain on a 250 hp N/A engine with the same set up. To get more you need to raise the compression a lot and that is tough for your rod bearings. I ran E-85 last year and this year I am going to use pump gas, at least for a start. It is easy to switch between the fuels as the only things you need to change is the fuel jets. On turbo cars it is a different thing though, as you can turn up the boost a lot with E85. |
