Title: Volvo 240 reservoir
Post by: Diederick/DVK on June 29, 2009, 11:33:48 am
i'm looking for the 240 reservoir that fits a dual circuit master cylinder.

OR the volvo parts number OR a chassis number of the 240 it's on, as they might have it at a dealership nearby but i just placed a call and without any numbers it's a needle in a haystack.

p.s. it better fits a 20.64mm csp MC too ;)

Hey dude - Awsome idea, they work PERFECTLY you can get one from mark at Flatlands Engineering but he is a little expensive (£65!) or just keep searching on ebay.com (usa)
Thats where I got my friends one from  :)

i'll be doing another major overhaul tomorrow so i was hoping to be able to use one then. hence the question for the part #.
but the dealership did find something and quoted 71 EUR excl. VAT. ouch. ;)

Google is your friend  ;) Hope this helps and "MFR#" means what I assume it means: http://www.autopartswarehouse.com/mmp/volvo~240~master_cylinder~parts.html (http://www.autopartswarehouse.com/mmp/volvo~240~master_cylinder~parts.html)

(I got mine from Bilhelvete, another Swedish "gift" to the world besides IKEA  :D, for 39€: http://www.biltema.fi/osteri/osteri.cgi?sivu=skriptisivut/index_kauppa.htm&linkki=661902.htm&tuote=661902 (http://www.biltema.fi/osteri/osteri.cgi?sivu=skriptisivut/index_kauppa.htm&linkki=661902.htm&tuote=661902))

Unfortunately I had to buy the complete master cylinder + reservoir combination, as the reservoir wasn't available separately.

In this months volksworld there is a standard reservoir  (I think 67 only) with two exits for that stock look. It has the go to place somewhere in the ad.

Or you could do like me, buy a later model dual reservoir, and mount it where the window squirter reservoir is supposed to be, use the blue hoses to the mastercylinder, looks like it could have been stock and is easy to access for that quick filler-up.

how about $25 shipped?

Yes I have 4 available. The total for 1 would be $25.00. My pay pal account address is the same as my email address havasujoe AT aol.com. I can send you a pay pal invoice if that is easier for you or you can send a money order to Joe Mistretta, 9660 SVL Box, Victorville, CA 92395

Thanks
Joe

true john, too bad i'm still waiting on my last shipping. but it's option for the next order, thanks! customer support is also way better at Vee Dub!

i should receive my parts in an hour or so, i'll be looking for a temporary solution to mount the dual circuit reservoir to get the brakes to work.

I did something similar - I mounted a stock late one up behind the wiring cover like on a late Karmann Ghia. Just had to modify the tray a little.

could anyone mail me one quick? i'm afraid i'm gonna need one to get to EBI. i installed my new master cylinder and improvised with the reservoir. i put it in position of the original one and drilled a hole for the second outlet. but when i top it up and bleed the brakes it's almost empty, so i topped it up, bled the brakes, empty...

i'd prefer a direct reservoir like the 240's. anyone in england, belgium etc? i know i will then receive it in time... i don't wanna lose my brakes halfway down to chimay.
