I have a Question on a certain mounting Bracket See Picture the Question is will it Clear an 1 3/4 header? it says it can be mounted inboard or outboard Is there enough room for this bracket mounted outboard between the header pipe and the inner body on a 67 sedan without modifing the body in any way? let me know Thanks Shubee Also how low dose it hang down with an HP1 on it? anyone have one installed on there car or pictures of a installed one?

Brackets that drop it down around 2" had to be made. You can just see them in this picture. I plan on changing it and hanging it off the bumper bracket.

I also have the Bumper Bracket mount But I dont like the way you have to route the hose's

The top of the filter mount is to wide and hits the inner fender on the engine side. Make sense? I have not looked at the bumper mount much, just looked like it might be better than what I have.

If you look close at the second picture, you can see that the adapter is slightly clocked on the bracket. I enlarged the bracket-to-adapter holes so that the filter would have a little extra clearance to the 1 5/8 A-1 Sidewinder exhaust (ScottP has one on a 1 3/4 sidewinder). Because of that, you can see in the other photos that I needed to clearance the underbody just slightly. It also means that I have to drop it down off the studs to pull the motor. My lines don't touch the exhaust anywhere, one coming from the pump, the other going forward to the remote cooler. Because of the exhaust, I have to run the smaller K&N filter, but it is also rated to 500 lbs. pressure and has the handy bolt head on the bottom to make removal easy. The "Old School Purist" ;D may not approve of anything other than a HP1 hanging down far enough to intimidate american muscle from a distance, but I like that it's tucked away safe and still easily accessible for maintenance since this car is driven every single day, rain or shine.

Hi Dustin Damm that is Close to the header and the Body? My 1 3/4 is the one that goes under the push rod tubes so should not hit the exhaust with an HP 1 ;D if I only need to notch the Body a Tad I might go that Way But I will be Running an Old School HP 1 LMAO Is the Filter your using smaller OD? or shorter? Post by: GreenTom on July 06, 2009, 09:53:41 am I have stainless one form VWSPEEDSHOP and it clears the ganuine body, but when the body was redone it hooks a little bit but we fixed that quickly :)
I've seen on one pisture that the filter on that kind of mounting clears the traction bar. I've got chormed Bug pack one (the old one that was ling @ Pauls for few years in reall old bug pack box probobly from VSM days...) and it has diferent mounting brackets (looks like they should be bolted to the bumper mounting brackets). This traction bar doesnt clear the filter mount at all :( I think its a TB problem not filter mount. what You recon? |
