Firstly a bug thank you to Kobus, Fred and Mike for organising the event. AS good as ever. Lets not forget the Gasser Garage, who bought along an awesome selection of cars, a special thanks to... Russell, Wray, Kev, Dale, Ray, and Ritchie for providing the cars and keeping them on the track this year. Dyno Don for keeping us going during the soaring heat. Mark, Paul and sons for the racing and good humour. Greg and Pamela again for their good humour. Keith for not breaking anything and Deano for having to put up with Keiths driving and race wear! Flat 4 and IP2 to complete the line up Lets not forget Carl who managed to inflate a surgical glove to almost the same volume as himself before it exploded. Awesome. This is Thursday, I came in at around 9 in the evening and was already car 200, I set up camp in the pits as 3 Wünderwaffe would be racing and soon it was too dark to take pictures. Afterwards Jelle lined up for the tech inspection, as friday morning he didn't have to wait too long. He passed! Soon after the tech inspection started filling up. Last picture is Sam and Jelle lining up for an early practice run. The large amount of runs did give them some edge as they both accomplished quite some goals over the weekend. My car really does stand out ::) :-[ Only cars missing are Nicolas (white 67) and Turtle (blue 59). Some other cars are in the works and should be finished some day.
Next is Peter/Ruff eying up Komori's Inch Pincher. And finally what should have been Miss European Bug In this year given the attention she had: Poppy, the Great Dane, going crazy on the track, starting the reverse quarter mile with a four legged wheelie. The green one in front isn't one, but still very very old speed (it got rewarded for the high quality restoration and of course the TDE engine in the back).
All the way from italy to take one of the most coveted prices, Europe's best OldSchool car! And maybe a given, but the wocket made Europe's purest Cal Look. Sven, winning best after 66 and fastest racer (I think), Adele winning best before 66, Nicolas winning type three runner up and fastest street type 3 on the track (wasnt he the only one? ;D). Finally Turbo Sam winning fastest street car. Thank you Fabian, for those great shots of me and my car! I had a perfect weekend; good weather, beautiful cars, and the nicest people. Plus, I finally got some results with my car. :) After running 5 +14sec times, and two high 13's with a broken second gear synchro and constantly missing shifts, I decided to go for one more run and leave the line in second gear. I was shocked when I saw that 12.8 timeslip! And an award to top it off! Cool! :o Congrats to the guys that make this event possible!!!! sorted out the carbs indeed as i ran a 16.33, which is 0.4 better then what i ran at SCC. the gearbox is now a bit more shitty as before and shifts from 1st to 3rd seem to be harder now ::) i don't think Lee was ever in front off me on either off the races we had ::) ::) :P, good to see you were motivated and hope to beat you soon buddy. ;D the awards were a blast (even if u was the only type3 yes) no one said you can't build one yourself and take it to the track :P. and i got to kiss Monica !!! but what really made it so fun was all the people i have been talking to. all the friends you 'meat' again. and the fun you can have together. see you guys soon. thanks guys for making this all unforgettable the naked guy on saturday was somewhat bizar to say the least... Sven, winning best after 66 and fastest racer (I think), Sven was quickest N/A but still miles behind the EBI car on only its 4th pass after revamp running 10.63@128.5 mph ;D watch out for this car now,its going to be quick when we actually do some tuning on it,rather than just put it together and turn up with it,the only time it moved under its own power before EBI was onto the trailer. As we were busy racing, there was not much time for taking pictures, but I managed to take this one on our way back up to the north. The EBI3 was the best show I have been to in a long long time. It was great to put a face to many names and make a lot of new friends.
Thanks to everyone for the incredible hospitality.......... The entire crew at CSP for letting us hang out with them in their incredible booth/lounge and and enjoy the rare european ICE cold drinks and more sandwiches than I count. Dyno Don for deafening us all day with his antics. Steve and Adele for handing us warm beer into the wee hours of the night. The boys at Slide Performance for trying to wear out the trans in the buggy so I would have to haul it home for repairs. Russel Ritchie and all the Gasser Garage crew for putting on a great display of cars. A semi load and more in fact. Special thanks to Kobus, Fred and Mike for letting us be a part of this great event. p.s. I still think EBI3 should reimburse us for the Vee Dub Parts rain ponchos since we brought such great weather to this event all the way from Southern California. p.s.s. Philip you're right, gauges Speedwell and interior special ( a lot of compliment about BTW ).. Engin are ( for this moment ) my 1600 daily driver modified ( engle110, flywheel light, heads polishe, Kadron's ..etc = for 7liters/100km @120km/h !!! :o )...
