Title: Total seal or not??? Post by: FDK/mrpedrini on July 18, 2009, 17:29:26 pm Hi guys and girls!!!
Got one last decision to make on my street engine (78,4 x 90,5)... Is it wise to instal a set of total seal 2 nd piston rings on this mild street engine, are there any issues???? Comp ratio is 8.4:1 heads have 40/ 35,5 valves.... using a verry mild cam (web 218) Weber 44 IDF's Bosch 010 w points (for a starter). Kind regards... Dennis Title: Re: Total seal or not??? Otherwise you're gonna get answers from guys running turbo drag cars that are completely irrelevant to your street car.Use the stock rings. They aren't a problem that needs solving. Total seal recommends gapless top rings in most cases now. Use the stock ones as Bruce says. Title: Re: Total seal or not??? Post by: Torben Alstrup on July 22, 2009, 18:37:28 pm Exactly. When using gapless in the 2. ring, it also takes forever for the rings to seat for the same reason as Roman implies. - Took me a while to figure that out too.
I woulsd stay with the rings that comes with the pistons. T Title: Re: Total seal or not??? Post by: FDK/mrpedrini on July 22, 2009, 21:49:09 pm Hey guys, thanks for the replies!!! sounds like a resonable story to me.... I will use the stock piston rings.. Now taking the crank, pully, flywheel and pressure plate to the balancer and build this sucker!!! 8) ;)
kind regards...Dennis |
