Title: How to mount the Licenceplate?
Post by: Type1/DVK on January 17, 2007, 22:40:24 pm
How do you guys mount the licence plate for those 'temporarily' moments.. (like driving for lots of miles on the highway)

(see the blue one..)

Do you have these 'suction cups' that you put on the window? (from the toys in the toystore ;) or tape? tell us! :D

Well, i was thinking about buying a 'car-window-suctioncup-toy' from the toystore and somehow mount those cups to your licenceplate..  :o ::)

when I have to, I just use some brackets for small tubes and pull them over the t-bars. fast and easy (wingnuts). but my license plate really fits perfectly between the t-bars :-)

same here, just put a slight kink in the middle to stop it hitting the bonnet and give it a bit of strength

I drove like 4 years without any licenceplate, simply because it's ugly.
Lucky me, the cops never caught me ...  ;D but the last years I did it with tape.
I don't care because I removed it directly when I came to a place or meeting.
Now I'm using T-bars, so I use the simple solution like Andi, and it works !!!

On the highway nobody is watching how you mount your licenceplate, so if I were you just do it as easy as possible.

My friend Gav/G77 simply bolts his "tempory" front plate through the Horn Gril - it works pretty well and doesn't look to bad either  :)

Attach it to the sunvisor on the co-pilot side. Easily folded in and out of view. This works at least with the smaller plate I have.

I have made up 2 'L' shaped bracket with a bar welded across the top. The number plate is held on with some rubber 'P' Clips and the brackets are fixed through the spare wheel well using 4 screws with captive nuts or 'Rivnuts'.
