I know it's off topic (I posted it there before) but no one saw it and it's really well worth looking at (even if not Cal Look): There are 10 lunatics in five beetles (four standard modells from '49 to '56 and a '52 convertible) who will DRIVE from Germany to China. That is a 11000 km / 7000 miles trip. And if this isn't enough, they will do it in four weeks! That means they have to drive close to 370 km / 230 miles per DAY. Mad! And I guess it's pretty hard to find people who want to do it with their car, have the financial background and the time. I guess thats why he offered two of his cars to friends/fellow enthusiasts.

When you're away from the big cities be prepared---get all of your shots ($$$) Bring Antibiotics like "Bactrim", your life may depend on it!!!!!!!!! You can't drink any water, any where! that's not bottled or boiled. Stay away from antacids/PPI's/Pepcid, etc. Try not to alter your systems PH. Trust me on this one. Eat fried foods!, Use Imodium carefully, bottom line, they have bugs there your system hasn't seen before. Parts of China have to be considered septic...period, and you won't see any outhouse's in the fields. You can figure that one out. The last thing you want is case of fiery, infectious squirts in a unisex/no stall/Chinese squat toilet (still everywhere in China). Ladies, Google "whizzy", another life saving tip! Flushable baby wipes, a gift from the gods. An added note, tour buses don't have toilets, just anxiety. Even some big cities like Xian (terra/cotta warriors) are considered dirty by Chinese standards, its no fun when you dare not leave the sight of your hotel. Will someone please use a pressure washer on China!!! And put soap in it!! too. I watched parents allow their child to shit on the sidewalk and simply walk away (Kunming), excuse me!!!!! WTF.. That's just wrong! And whats up with the kiddie pants split up the crotch? I loved China and I'd go back in a heart beat, I found it to be a fascinating trip of a lifetime. I only wish my most vivid memories were not centered on elimination. :-\ :'( :-[ :( |
