Title: Rear wheel bearing question for IRS Post by: Brandon Sinclair on August 26, 2009, 04:43:31 am In the past I have always tried to purchase German rear wheel bearings like FAG or SKF for an IRS rear end. The local parts place only has bearings that are either marked made in Mexico or Spain. I have heard there are some made in China as well. What are your experiences quality wise with these parts?
Also, the outter roller bearing has a plastic type race between the inner and outter metal race (see photo). Does this go facing the tranny or facing the drums (I could never get a definitive answer on this)? http://www.oeveedub.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=oe&Product_Code=113-598-283&Category_Code=thing-wheel-bearings Also, does the outter roller bearing contol the up and down play or the side to side play? Thanks Any experience with the Timken brand? The local Napa store carries those.
