Title: high torque starter? Post by: autobarnhauler on January 27, 2007, 20:26:01 pm hi guys, ive just fitted my new 22.76cc engine and trying to start it 4 the first time,
and was wondering if i need to fit a high torque starter, as it turns over slowly on a new stock moter. conpression is 10:1 with c45 cam and msd ingnition. any ideas? thanks ;) Title: Re: high torque starter? My old 2332 had 11.5:1 and started instantly with a stock starter. At the moment have a 1967 6V starter that runs on 12V, that's a solution that beats any Hi torque starter. Post by: Steve D. on February 25, 2007, 19:42:05 pm That motor shouldn't have a problem with a good stock starter and a good battery if all the grounds and such are up to snuff- no fancy $$$ stuff needed here. Gear reduction starters are lame- they don't weigh anything less than the black Bosch SR15N and they make your car sound like a To#¤ta- the only weight reduction you will notice will be in your wallet.

I think for a so big engine, the torque of the 6v starter have a lot of work to do => The inertia of the parts (the forged crank whit this counterweights + the rods + Forged pistons ), more the CR, …. fitted a new stock 12v starter and she spun over fine, and now runs well, happy days :) thanks |
