I've always liked 'em and wanted to build one with gray metallic paint, non-polished 911 alloys, slightly lower the front end, and either a huge Type 4 or normally aspirated 911 engine. Be fun to drive and rather different.

I have 1/2 dozen of these type of fan shrouds for Pumas I had for years. Building a nice Weber motor with short type manifolds and one of these shrouds would be cool.

Came very close to buying one a few years ago with the round tail lights and thin bumpers, except Frechy wouldn't let me run the DRKC with it! He is still going to give me a fan shroud in Pheonix though,...right?

I have one here, its a RHD south african version and is slightly different to the brazil made ones, its has been treated very badly since coming to england and needs alot of work,I have the body off the pan and cut the pan halves off ready to replace them,I will IRS it at the same time and it will be porsche 5 stud brakes, still to decide on wheels and engine combo and change those rear lights, they are so ugly

But no its not really cal look

cheers richie,uk

You know that that will become your new nickname, Frechy. LOL
The car came with a non-doghouse shroud, CB has the newer version for the doghouse cooler.
A lot of funky tabs had to be ground off to clean it up. The engine by the way is a 2276 that
made 172hp.

I've always wanted a Puma. A friend of mine drove one during high school (20+ years ago) and it was very cool. I tried to get him to sell it to me, but he never would.

There was one for sale here locally in the classifieds, but it must have sold quickly... The guy never called me back.  :(

A friend of mine, Gary Urwin, had one years ago. I helped lift the body off the pan - jeez the bodies are HEAVY! My back has never been the same. Gary reckoned it was probably not far off the weight of a Bug shell. All I know is...It felt like it!
If you're going to get one it want to be the first generation body - the second generation shell was nearly as ugly as a '70 on Type 3.
Actually, scratch that... ;D

From memory he sold it to someone called Jim Bourne. I don't know why I remember the name about 20 years later, but I'm pretty sure that's what he was called. I never met the guy. I recall Gary saying the guy put it in his garden and did nothing with it. I think Gary sold it for £500.

Opal or Vet tail lights would look so much better on one of those.
