I don't get it either, capo!
To me, the old school look sounds like stockers with a dropped front end, wheels and a big engine. Not too many visible modifications at least.
The term itself came up in the 90ies as for as I know.

Old school means everything an nothing for me, it's being to much used for too many different things.
For me Bill Schwimmers' car and '90s DKP cars are cal-look, some other cars are resto-cal, german-look etc... Look at the scan Fabian posted with Bill Schwimmers car, why modify the cal-look "logo" to make it say "old school" ? That's just been invented by magazines in the '90s for me,  I never read about "old school" VWs on the lounge.

Also watercooled vw magazines call Golf mk1 and mk2 treated like this "old school", custom and hot-rod magazine call sometimes the '30s/'40s style rods "old school".

Shame about all the labels and categories.

X2

When I was in DKK... we had cars that were pretty traditional, cars that were "80s Cal-Looks" with graphics and multicolor paint jobs and we had some were leaning towards what's now called "Resto-Cal"... not that far mind you but leaning.  ;)

We considered them all Cal-Look.

I agree with all the labels and categories part although i think that the old school part refers to when a car is being built now to a look of the past being 60's,70's,80's or 90's look.

But thats what i think ;D
