Title: Identifying a steering wheel Post by: Nico86 on October 15, 2010, 01:11:35 am Do you know guys what is this steeering wheel ? I bought it as a Speedwell (but the Speedwell have a larger boss location), I don't know if it's one. I was also told it's a Formula wheel. Fabs maybe you saw it in a catalog ???
I can't find a boss that fits it, so any infos would be great. ;) Title: Re: Identifying a steering wheel Post by: Nico86 on October 15, 2010, 01:24:37 am ;)
Title: Re: Identifying a steering wheel Post by: beetletom on October 15, 2010, 08:27:14 am yep, looks like a formula wheel, they made the wheels for speedwell.
Title: Re: Identifying a steering wheel Post by: tomi g on October 15, 2010, 11:14:41 am Definitely looks like a speedwell one. I have some pics of my formula wheels so you can compare. Finding an original boss is a nightmare but the flat4 repso will fit if you redrill the mounting holes.

All the bosses I've tried have the correct bolt pattern but are too large to fit. The Flat4 GT boss seem the only one that have a correct diameter, but yes the mounting holes on the wheel needs to be redrilled.
It seems that there is 2 types of Speedwell wheel : one like mine with thin diameter boss and one with a bigger diameter boss ? Title: Re: Identifying a steering wheel Post by: Ivan on October 15, 2010, 13:28:37 pm It's a Formula wheel made in the UK 100% certain. And yes, they made the wheels for Speedwell.
Cool wheel! Title: Re: Identifying a steering wheel Post by: Nico86 on October 15, 2010, 17:14:32 pm Thanks Ivan ;) Got any idea where to find a boss ? I only find some infos about Austin Mini or Ford Cortina.
Title: Re: Identifying a steering wheel Post by: speedwell on October 15, 2010, 18:18:21 pm nico , before i've my speedwell steering wheels back in 96 , i had another steering wheels similar to yours , and as you i was thinking it was a speedwell one , but the speedwell had more curved spokes
my formula steering wheels had an golf mk1 boss because i had a 74 bug , and i drilled my steering wheels to the boss species but the speedwell one fitted directly well fabs Title: Re: Identifying a steering wheel Post by: Nico86 on October 15, 2010, 18:34:41 pm Ok I see, thanks Fabs ;) Yes like on this pics I found, top right, bottom left and bottom right are Speedwell (more curved, large diameter boss)
