I like my Gene Berg 1 5/8 merged header. Fits very well under the apron. Don't even have to pull it from the engine when I need to take the motor out.

I'm using a Kymco 1 5/8th inch on my 67 for the last couple years.  No leaks and it fit pretty well.  The A1 I used previously is well made, but much more expensive than a Kymco.

I had a 1-5/8" merged kymco as well,  great fit!

Yes, Kymco sells 1.5" headers.  (949)642-1835 is the number.  If I remember, they are $109 or so.

I used a 1 1/2" Kymco on my hot rod 1600. It worked well. You wouldnt want a large flange with a header that small.

The point of having a small flange is to speed up the exhaust flow when it reaches the collector. Same thing as a venturi in a carburetor. When a river is wide, the water flows slowly. When it gets narrower, the water increases in speed.
