I was struggling all weekend with the engine missfiring and not producing any power,i ran a 10,05@227kmh and then 11,7@195kmh,15,3@230kmh on Saturday.

I was also having problem with my clutch management system and launchcontrol so it was to aggressive off the line and bogging.

Found some of the problems on sunday(intake leak) and did some changes in the EFI and ran a 9.61@243,5 kmh with some serious problems
leaving the starting line and some problems with grip as i was out of the groove in second gear.

But it was still a great weekend at Kjuladragway, sunshine, good friends and great cars  :)

Patrik.

I had a somewhat difficult weekend too but that does not take the joy away from racing at Kjula and meeting the Swedes again. Kjula is a excellent place and the track offer traction enough for most cars.

We drove down on Friday and arrived at Kjula just in time for the tech inspection. No problems there and the tech guy recognized the car from The Turbo Town shootout earlier this year. But no one have told me that in Sweden you have to use fire proof underwear, fire proof socks and balaclava even under a 3 layer fire suit. After a little discussion I was given a go. He also informed me that from next year everyone racing will have to use HANS when racing in Sweden.
The air was fresh and the temperature dropped quickly as soon as the sun went down and when I woke up on Saturday morning it was -3.  :)  At the drivers meeting it was immediately apparent that there was many cars attending and I knew there and then that it would not be much driving. The sun quickly got the temp up to around +20 and the track was really good (as always).

In the staging lane I had 5 cars ahead of me in the line up when we suddenly heard a knock and the window in the door shattered into pieces. A rock was thrown from one of the cars in the burnout box and it passed above the 5 cars in front (with their door open as well) and hit my window. We could do nothing except to start cleaning since there was glass everywhere. With the car back at the depot we cleaned up the rest when a guy came over with a lexan window from his hot rod and gave it to me. Thats what I call service. Albert, if your read this - THANKS!

I have not changed any setting on my car after SCC and I decided to do the first run on low boost setting since it worked fine at SCC, of course the car bogged badly, 11.65 – 127mph. Our class host could not confirm if we was to get one more run on Saturday but I had the car ready anyway and we just waited. It was about to be dark when we was given a go again and this time I turned on the high boost setting. I did a short burn out and pre loaded the car well. This time it launched REALLY hard and I was in paradise for a second or so when I heard a loud BANG and lost all the power. The engine still ran so I coasted to the finish line and stopped the car in the return lane. I could clearly smell E85 and I quickly got out of the car and opened the lid just to find that I had blown the boost pipe and it had hit the 3/4 side fuel rail and it was E85 everywhere including the exhaust.  :o I had nothing I could use to clean up the mess but I tried to get rid of as much as possible from the exhaust pipe. Luckily it did not catch fire!
Back at the pits I hooked the ECU to my PC and looked at the log and it showed that I had 3.1 bar of boost for a short time  8) We fixed the car again just to wake up to rain on Sunday. It only rained for short time and after the cleaning and drying was over everyone was invited to cruise the track. I thought this was nice opportunity to get some heat in the engine and gearbox and to check the boost again. After a couple of rounds down the track I gave it a go but it would not go above 0.8 bar of boost and I could immediately smell E85 again. A quick check showed that it squirts alcohol from one of the injectors on boost and again I was lucky it did not catch fire. I decided that I had it and I packed and went home, season over.

Thanks to everyone that helped me this weekend and a special thank you to our chef, Mr TomR that made breakfast both days and even invited us for a dinner in his T3 camper van called Gunda  :)

See you next year at Kjula!

My weekend was decent. I had some problems finding the gears after the shifting rod came lose at Tierp. I ran a 9.22, 9.64 and a 9.15. The last run also resulted in a 1.29 60 foot  ;D. Got back to the pits and heard some extra noise from the no 4 cyl exhaust. The temporary fix from Tierp that I was too lazy to fix hade given up. Fixed that saturday night, Nicke did some changes in the Autronic and I was ready for Sunday where I was to meet the future winner of the event. Though Sunday morning when starting the engine it made a hiss sound and it was in the no 1 cylinder, it was cracked at the bottom. Season over.

Had a promising test drive with stable boost for a change, hmmmmmmm.... Maybe the season isn't over after all. It is a 580 km drive from Oslo to Tierp and I know that Team Tekken is going and that Skinne is planing to go. Vidar Strand is also going. How about the Swedes? Anyone going?

Bought my ticket today, 2750 SEK incl entrance for 5 people, a depot space big enough for a party and electricity. Not bad at all! My brother is coming along together with my girlfriend, Storm and a mechanic from Finland  :)

I hope it will go a little better this time..

I did some calculations:

2 750 SEK is 2 335 NOK with todays exchange rate. Included is:

- Race
- Depot place 18x6 meter
- Electricity
- 5 guests
- Entrance to the party, concert and buffèt on Saturday
- Fireworks and lasershow

5 day passes = 5 x 250 = 1 250 and if you want to stay both days = 2 500 SEK
5 entrances to the party incl 5 beer or wines =  1 250 SEK

A total of 3 750 SEK for 6 people for the whole weekend.

I paid 2 750 SEK for everything. In other words, Tierp is actually paying me 1 000 SEK to race at their track.  ;) Thats almost enough to cover the diesel.

Or a much simplier, and more correct, calculation:

2 335 NOK is approx the same as you pay for 5 beers in Oslo, served by a Swede.

 :D

10.89 and if it was not for my ears my smile would go all the way around  ;D

Still strange that I'm not able to produce more than 1.13 bar here at Tierp when I have 1.6 on the street but that just shows that there is more in there.

24C and not a cloud in sight.

Thanks Trond, currently at the cabin hoping to catch some lobsters for dinner. I rarely (never) bring my PC here.

Walter, the race report earlier in this thread is from Kjula two weekends before Tierp. As a matter of fact I did decide that the season was over after the Kjula race but after looking at the logs and especially the boost functions I decided to attend the Tierp race. I'm happy I did! The brand new Tierp arena is a MUST see for every race fan and to attend a pro event like Night of Fire is a really interesting experience. Take the tech inspection for one thing... 30-45 minutes per car. To take a street car to such a inspection was... challenging, but it passed.

On the first two runs I messed things up with too much tire pressure and not a good enough burn out. Thanks to Jyrki and Niklas we quickly identified the problems and on the next start I got the 10 sec run I have been trying to get for so many years. The 60ft was 1.47 and the rest of the run was a walk in the park so to say. The car is stable and it feels safe at high speed and I have 6 starts this season with 1.42 - 1.47 60ft. I disconnected the boost control and changed to a 14psi spring in the wastegate at Tierp, I'm also hitting the rev limiter 3 times and I shift gear like a old lady....

Looking at the video now I regret not turning the radio on :)

Thanks for that!
That is such a smooth pass! well done!
No excuses necessary I think, shifting and rpm's seem well executed I think, maybe only a little more startline rpm as it seems to drop rpm a bit more then ideal?
< 1.5 60ft's pfft, I can still only dream about that!
