Title: Re: 60ft times and reaction times etc Post by: richie on July 29, 2014, 20:25:19 pm Reaction time has no affect on the ET at all so that will make no difference, it is only a measurement of your reaction to the green light,the clocks don't start until you actually move, typically a 1/10th in the 60ft is worth 2 over the 1/4 mile, 1.5x 60fts are quite realistic for a bug with good suspension set up and sticky tyres.
Its hard to calc the potential without knowing the weight and how hard you beat on it ;D 13.6@100mph using a guesstimate of 1825lbs says you are using about 150whp, but it cant calc wheelspin etc, mph is the best thing to go on but again the gearing has a huge affect Does it have a close ratio box? 12s should be achievable with seat time and tuning alone :) cheers Richie Title: Re: 60ft times and reaction times etc Post by: goose on July 29, 2014, 21:12:24 pm richie
no it has a pro street box with a tall 4th unknown ratios and previous owner new nothing either.if it is from rancho will it have an ID stamped on it? i can perhaps get me and the car weighed on sunday etc with the engine fire before the first run it all turned into a baptism of fire and now i have time to reflect i am looking at what is in the driver potential as my head was all over the place the car is still set on the rich side and the limiter is only set at 6k so i would like to set some targets to hit next time etc Angus Title: Re: 60ft times and reaction times etc Post by: MC Dyno Don on July 29, 2014, 23:23:10 pm First pass at Bug-in with my 63 Notchback in 1978 with radials was almost identical @ 13:67 and same mph... with some tuning and traction I was able to manage down into the 12's//12:60's Old School 78X90.5...42x37 non welded heads...125 w/1:25's...1 1/2 exhaust...42 Dcnf's///for comparison purpose only... Helps keep the V8s honest for the first 100m at least, they find it very annoying! ;D
Reaction times, it sounds like you're waiting for the green to come up, then going "What? Oh! Hey, we're off!". That's not a criticism, just an observation. Next time on the line, try timing the lights down the tree in your head, then launching on the last yellow, eg light, light, launch. My little boys are forever saying "1...2...GO!". :D That should knock a second off your reaction time to make people pay attention. Title: Re: 60ft times and reaction times etc Post by: richie on July 30, 2014, 09:38:34 am Seat time alone will probably gain you 1/2 a second, the more relaxed you are the easier it is to be consistent, 6k rpm sounds way to low, hasn't it got comp elims on it? what cam? with a tall ratio box it will be even worse, spinning it higher will keep it in the power better after each shift, are you using all 4 gears?
