Berger

are you the comedian for Saturday night on stage?  :D ;D

It will be great weekend with the new track etc made even better if no drunk idiots are making noise all night ;)

But seriously this event costs me a lot of money to attend and having to budget for hotel rooms for us all will make it harder to justify travelling all that way

cheers Richie

Can not argue against the cost Richie, I know traveling to Norway is expensive. But this year you will have the opportunity to race at three very nice tracks, three weekends in a row if you want!  8)

First there is Bug Run Classic at Tierp Arena 5-6. of august with almost endless track time.
Then there is Pistonhead open 4# at Kjula Dragway in Eskilstuna 13-14. of august. Not a "VW only race", but very nice organised drag race for everyone at a very good track.
And last there is SCC at New Gardermoen Raceway 19-21. of August as you know.

Drunk and loud people are everywhere, hard to avoid them, unless you stay home in your couch of course...  :D

We started last year with no other campers in the pits than racers. So along the tree line on the grass, on the stretch you had last year, there will be only racers.

I can put you up where you had pit last time?

Yes I have considered that, the other guys that help can't get all that time off to do all 3 so going to have to pick carefully what is realistic, Kjula does appeal just because I have never done it before, and while you are correct about drunks, there just isn't any need for it in the pits any time, let alone hours after noise is supposed to have stopped & particularly from supposed racers ::)

And I can hear the crazy old drunk lady next door from my couch so even that is not safe ;) :D

cheers Richie

Well, as you know, to have the track all to our self, SCC has to be a big VW festival embracing everyone enjoying an old vintage Volkswagen. There are just not enough VW racers to keep it a pure race event. I am sure you remember how it was the first time you raced at Gardermoen, when it was together with the NDRG`s event? Not much track time to the VW-guys back then...  ::)
I to are not a big fan of drunk people and music all night, but I think it is a small sacrifice to accept some of this to get all that track time (and it is cheap compared to other racing events too)  ;)

That said, I have to agree with Erlend, last year, with the new event layout, it was not much noise in the pits at night  8)

I can confirm this. It has never been quieter in the pits so a thumb up for the new lay out. As a matter of fact I could not hear the concert either and it also helped that the SCC guys made sure it was quiet in the pits after 23.00.

The drunk idiots playing music a few years ago was to a large extent caused by Slackers Garage having a large pit area with big sound system, dance floor, DJs etc. (Mea culpa) We have scaled back the party factor the past couple of years and Slackers Garage have no plans to arrange anything like that this year. Now the layout of SCC has changed aswell, so the party area has to a large extent moved out of the pits and the sleeping conditions have greatly improved.

I am sure there will be a fair share of happy/drunk people celebrating the SCC at night this year too, but the pits were a lot more quiet last year and I am sure it will be this year aswell.

Looking great. And the sun is shining :)
Will there be any event before SCC or is it the very first on the new surface? Are there any other events planned after SCC to get the most out of the track now that it's been redone?

The report after the first day is that several teams managed new PB's. The fastest ET so far is 6.44 and 340 KPH so there is still room for improvements before records are beaten.

I'm not there but I can't find him on the entry list. Perhaps you are mixing names because there is a guy called Jens Petter Lindstrom competing in Super Comp.

What I find most impressive is the steady on-board camera action movies. It says everything you need to know about the quality of the new track.

And I know I should not mention the weather but since you started Richie; it looks really promising for the time being with a steady high pressure coming in early next week.

What happened to the 7-second showdown?

We tried  ::), only one pass of mine wasn't in 8s all weekend which was pleasing[well the 10 wasn't so much but it was wild ;) so probably pleasing to watch ;)], after the 8.29 I had a pass where 60ft was real bad but rest was much better and still went 8.32, that was it though, and the Skinne car had some ignition/ecu/sensor interference issues[ not sure which it actually was as they still hadn't pinpointed it at end] which really limited there runs, was a shame as would have been something to see with both cars going full out &using all the track, maybe it will happen in future :)
Given the new track only had one meeting on it before this and that was mostly lost to rain it was really good we could run as quick as we did, I managed 1.18 & 1.19 60fts and when it has more events and rubber on it should be real good and be able to push it the whole 1/4 mile

Have to say thank you to everyone who made us feel so welcome & did everything they could to make our weekend as good as possible, it really is a pretty unique event from that perspective   8) Hopefully we did our bit to add to it and put on a good show :) even the weather did its bit this year by only raining at night when racing was finished ;D

And as Erlend mentioned so many people ran pbs, well done to all of you 8)  all I saw was smiling faces on sunday afternoon when the event was finished which has to be a good sign for future

I am sure Jo will put up some pictures and videos when she has recovered, I am lucky enough to be able to put my feet up with some friends & tea :D for a few days in the remote Norwegian woods and Fjords before I make my drive home

cheers Richie

Cool! Saw Jo's post on FB about your run – it was frustrating for us back home not to hear anything about the event while it was on, so had no idea if it was rain affected or whatever. Ended up watching Hockenheim live feed, but got bored with that!

Safe trip back.

This was my first time at SCC and I had an absolute blast! Even though i was just visiting, this was among the best times I ever had.
Such a great turn-out of extremely fast cars in one place was pretty unique I think.

On top of that and with some help of a Norwegian friend, I could secure a seat on one of the two Schwimmwagens there that took a schwimm in a nearby lake. Bucket list stuff!

Besides the schwimming, there was a well organised slalom at the other end of the track with 15-20 participants.
Lots of other stuff going on still all weekend.
Super friendly people all around, you could just ask anybody anything, so I learnt plenty as well.

Thanks to the organisors big time!
I will definately be back with my car next time.

A lot of racers went round after round and you could really do a lot of runs if you wanted to.
Price for most runs during the weekend went to a racer with 28 runs!
(http://i174.photobucket.com/albums/w112/fusca03/SCC2016/IMG_3978_zpsrd5jvgbj.jpg) (http://s174.photobucket.com/user/fusca03/media/SCC2016/IMG_3978_zpsrd5jvgbj.jpg.html)

Not just fast cars, also some very very nice cars ran, amongst this beautifull Ghia:
(http://i174.photobucket.com/albums/w112/fusca03/SCC2016/IMG_3963_zpszx503jip.jpg) (http://s174.photobucket.com/user/fusca03/media/SCC2016/IMG_3963_zpszx503jip.jpg.html)

Kalle did some high 10's on 'wastegate' boost, which on his case was 1.8 bar  :o 8)
All from a mouse 1641 cc... amazing stuff!
(http://i174.photobucket.com/albums/w112/fusca03/SCC2016/IMG_3970_zpspe09g3x3.jpg) (http://s174.photobucket.com/user/fusca03/media/SCC2016/IMG_3970_zpspe09g3x3.jpg.html)

(http://i174.photobucket.com/albums/w112/fusca03/SCC2016/IMG_3968_zpspmkfkoce.jpg) (http://s174.photobucket.com/user/fusca03/media/SCC2016/IMG_3968_zpspmkfkoce.jpg.html)

(http://i174.photobucket.com/albums/w112/fusca03/SCC2016/IMG_3969_zpsryjkeirm.jpg) (http://s174.photobucket.com/user/fusca03/media/SCC2016/IMG_3969_zpsryjkeirm.jpg.html)

and with a good launch, his slicks got the perfect 'zebra'look:
(http://i174.photobucket.com/albums/w112/fusca03/SCC2016/IMG_3972_zpsafep74k6.jpg) (http://s174.photobucket.com/user/fusca03/media/SCC2016/IMG_3972_zpsafep74k6.jpg.html)

Erlend's 10 second runs were also very impressive, as was his dyno run and the blown hose for the 'offerings to the....' shelf from a little too emthousiastic burn-out (iirc):
(http://i174.photobucket.com/albums/w112/fusca03/SCC2016/IMG_3974_zpsymbhwzcd.jpg) (http://s174.photobucket.com/user/fusca03/media/SCC2016/IMG_3974_zpsymbhwzcd.jpg.html)

(http://i174.photobucket.com/albums/w112/fusca03/SCC2016/IMG_3965_zpso7was19j.jpg) (http://s174.photobucket.com/user/fusca03/media/SCC2016/IMG_3965_zpso7was19j.jpg.html)

His all-face wide grin after his first 10-second run says it all I think. Well deserved mate!

Richie's winning run:
(http://i174.photobucket.com/albums/w112/fusca03/SCC2016/IMG_3953_zpscgmkcgze.jpg) (http://s174.photobucket.com/user/fusca03/media/SCC2016/IMG_3953_zpscgmkcgze.jpg.html)

Rabalder's first ever 10-second run:
(http://i174.photobucket.com/albums/w112/fusca03/SCC2016/IMG_3934_zpsrrldtxwx.jpg) (http://s174.photobucket.com/user/fusca03/media/SCC2016/IMG_3934_zpsrrldtxwx.jpg.html)

Somehow it seems that if you want to run into the 10-seconds, you need to come to SCC.

Hmmmm,.... I think I have a date for next year  :D

Story goes; Me and Walter was fighting some electrical gremlins on Saturday morning and as time went by we almost forgot that he had a date with a schwimwagen. So off he went with my daily driver and along with him was also my Simpson Hybrid and one of my driving gloves. Little did I know that he enjoyed the water so much that it took two hours before he was back. So what else could I do apart from taking a nap.
