Title: Manifolds for MS230
Post by: neil68 on March 27, 2017, 05:56:04 am
What is everyone using for manifolds with the MS230 heads and Weber IDAs?

Does anyone have any tips for porting the (CB Performance) CE manifolds to work better with MS230 heads?  I bolted on a pair of CE manifolds, back when I received my MS230 heads a few years ago, as those were the only manifolds that I could find.

However, I have since been advised that there is some porting that can be done to make CE's flow better.  It's not really feasible to send the heads and manifolds from Canada to Sweden for Johannes to work on them, so I'd like to try to clean up the manifolds myself.  Any tips would be appreciated!

Thank you.

There are a better set available than the new CB CE manifolds. Old (Bugpack) Superflow manifolds have a nicer bend to it.. IIRC

Thank you, I recall hearing about this before. I haven't seen any of the SF manifolds available, but will keep looking.

They aren't for IDAs, to close at top

Did the seller confirm that those are Bugpack manifolds? His ad is not clear.

He didn't confirm, I just took a punt.
when I get them I'll clean them and see how different they are to the CB's and if there are any markings.
I'm curious to see how well they match the port as well

I think they are bugpack.  The CB require a long center bolt because the flange is like an inch thick.

Here are the bug pack manifolds I build for my MS230 heads.  Sold now, moving to Geers 910s.

I agree, out of the Box the older Bugpack Mani is probably slightly better than the CB for shape, but if you are welding and porting you can use either.
Doesnt Johannes have manifolds?

Thanks, Darren. I was about to ask you about this. I'll send a pm later.
