Title: BMW conversion bearings
Post by: leec on July 16, 2018, 22:35:25 pm
Hi guys,
Quick question. I know people are using BMW bearings to run a type 4 journal crank in a standard line bore type 1 case.

Are these bearings available for a type 4 mains crank that has had a grind to first undersized?

They do not make them for the O/D but do make them for the I/D of the bearings from what I have seen. Mike

I got some spare ones in standard size from King Bearing.

I will check the part number and you could ask the supplier about it.

You also need to narrow the bearing.

Cheers, Nick

Loads on eBay, bmw m30 bearings, from .25mm oversize bearing up to .75mm (for .25mm to .75mm undersized crank)
Need to narrow them tho as said.

Don't forget to add the notch for the Bearing tang!

That thrust Bearing are you using?

I haven't got that far with this yet. I have bought the crank now and will wait for it to arrive and go from there

Thanks,
Lee
