Title: guided or non guided trow-out bearing?
Post by: nicolas on September 23, 2018, 10:12:52 am
I ask this as a newer box I have has been installed with a non guided bearing and it got me thinking what would be best. what are the pros and cons?

Guided, never have to worry about clips coming off and bearing dropping into clutch, VW made improvements for a reason ;)

This x1000

If you've ever had a release bearing drop off the clips after wrestling the engine in and starting it up. I had one drop twice before it held. The "high strength" clips are bobbins too. Guided all the way.

I suspected it. but as this box has the guide removed and a non guided bearing fitted I found it curious... hence the question.
