The Cal-look Lounge

I just bought a decent '62. I'd like to do a Cal-look style build. I'd like to lower the rear one spline though and am looking for input on rear tire sizes. For the front I'm planning on 145/15 tires with dropped spindles. From what I've seen here and other places, the 205/65 or 70 is a popular size for the rear of a true Cal-look car. I'm wondering though if I should go with a 195 on the rear since I want to drop it one spline. ยูฟ่าเบท (https://www.ufa365s.com/ufabet/)

205/70 with a short axle and standard wheel offsets is perfect

It may depend on your wheel offset/size, but a 205/65 should do the trick, even with it slightly lowered. I personally run a 215/65 on the back of my car with Flat Four BRM's. I am lowered about a spline now (not in the images below) and have no issues. Personally, a 70 series tire is too tall for my taste and gearing.

Hi all, my first post here, no doubt of many, thought I'd add on to a post rather than starting another.

So I have a 71 1300 and looking for the same advice as the OP.

I plan to drop the rear 1 or 2 clicks but more than happy to take advice on this.

So, my question is, what size tyres should I be using?  I would prefer a more compliant ride  :)

Welcome to The Lounge! Sounds like you're building a driver with a Cal Look style, which makes sense. No point in building a strip monster that never gets used.
The dropped spindle kits can add width, so you may need to factor a narrowed beam in to the equation. I think the SSP 8s are a reasonable offset though, so you might get away with it as long as you don't go too wide on the front tyres. I don't think you can beat the look of a 145, but you can find tyre calculators online which compare tyre heights. Put the 145 in as a 145/82r15 and look for something in a 165.
As for the back, lowered 2 splines is far too much. One is too much in my opinion - 4 inner and 4 outer the other way should be enough to drop the back a little but still keep that nose down look. A 205 won't fit under the back with long axles - depending on brand a 185 should be plenty, but the tricky bit is getting the height. A 70 profile is good but hard to get. 65 is too low. I run drop spindles with ventilated kerscher brakes, ssp 8spokes and 165/65 tires. No narrowed beam. It fits, but only just.
