hi guys
i do some changes on my 61 bug ...new wheels  5" ET36
i go to 5x130 pattern , i've buy some brakes discs  those came with drop spindles (-6cm)  , these widen the front axle by 12 mm on each side

after doing all the work requested  fit the new spindles on the link pin and mounted the discs on the spindles
i've put the car on the ground with the wheels   my  front beam have a sway a way and this one was good with the vw spindle and brakes drums  but now with the drop spindles and my sway a way  adjust to the maximum up the car is too low and this without my tank fuel and me behind the wheels
without that the tyres is closes to the fenders  so with me and fuel the tyres would touch the fenders
so i will do a new front beam with sway a way  but this time I'm going to place it, so that the high position matches the original height as this with the offset brought by the drop spindles I could properly adjust the height
BUT
my wheels are 5" with an ET36 ...now with the 12mm more on each side, the tires touch the edge of the fender and even if I go up the car, the rim on the driver's side comes out (not much .. but) a little more than that on the passenger side
my question is ..DO I MADE A SHORTENED FRONT AXLE  ???? and how much inches should I shorten  .. i don't want something as the resto cal  the minimum as possible
2" inches  is not to much??

With gasburners and 4.5 fuch i have no problem with stock width beam and cb drop spindles, looking at your car I think maximum 2inch narrowed beam is most you need :)

Ritchie question: can the drop spindles bring different additional width to the front axle. like mine with the disc brakes kit ..12mm per side??

I agree with Richie - a two-inch narrowed beam should be more than adequate. Bringing each wheel in by one inch is quite a lot – you don't need to think about a five-inch beam! You'd be into narrowing shock towers and all that resto-cal crap.

i've done hand polished job on the ribs then applied my recipe for magnesium look

I did wonder! So do you tell all the girls your 'dimensions' in inches, when you really mean centimetres!  :D

I have dropped spindels, disc brakes, 5,5 ET18 with 145/80 15 and a 2 inch front beam on my 67.
Theese wheels should stick out about 2 cm more than you wheels. I have some rubbing issues in tight corners but it's ok in general. I guess you should be fine with a 2 inch beam.

Yes most of the drop spindles add about 1/2inch per side

Agreed, Fabs, they look great. I don't know how you do it, but you really make them look like magnesium!

i've got another question about the 2" narrowed beam

Do i have to modified the shocks towers because mine ddi'nt works  the shocks towers don't goes into the inner arch

On a linkpin beam, 2 inch narrowed if you flat plate the inner shock tower (drill out spot welds and remove pressed steel inner shock tower) it will clear inner arch
There was a how to online, I will try and find it.
