Title: Beware of fraud/scam in wanted ads!
Post by: Good-Old-Ragtop60 on March 16, 2021, 14:58:37 pm
Hi,

I placed a "wanted Ad" in the classifieds and was contacted by the User "Jonasm".
He gave me the contact "shastaholmes@outlook.com" for a wheel I was looking for.

Long story short this is a scam-adress and my money is gone. It seems (after a little research) that the mail adress is from Nigeria and for spam an scam.
Please be careful when youīre contacted by this guy.
I was not very smart and like to warn you.

Cheers,
Tobi

Thanks for your warning Tobi,
I have banned that user now at least. He was newly registered and the website was not even able to track/record his IP which is odd in itself.

Sorry to hear you lost your money.
It has been happening in a couple of other forums I am a member of.
I found asking for pics and specific details on what they are offering exposed their lack of knowledge on parts they were offering

Thanks Guys.

He had even sent me a photo of the correct wheel and I thought he was based in Texas.
Again I was to enthusiastic and no so smart to ask for detailed pictures or other things proving heīs a good seller.
Never had that problems in the past...time to learn.  :-\

But thankfully in this scene itīs the exception. Itīs a pleasure to trade with most of you.  :)
